Steam must be running error....
the game wont launch because it says steam must be running to play this game, im literally launching from steam and it still says that, verified all files, restarted steam, logged out of steam and back in. idk what else to do.

Update: Please dont bother with any of the "solutions" none of them work, some can get you to the character select screen but you are blocked by another error, ive seen someone share a file to rollback your steam, i have yet to personally try that because i trust nothing shared like that hardly, so do so at your own risk, i hope to see you all back in the game having fun again soon.

Any ETA on when it will be fixed ? 2 hrs ? 8hrs ?

At this point, based on Steam's refusal to take responsibility for the issue they caused and telling me to contact Amazon I'm wondering that myself. I figure I will give them 24 hours before I request a refund and just go buy the game directly from Amazon - it will suck to have to start over, but Steam's response to their update breaking a game that worked fine a few hours ago is really very shady.

Deleting the certificates in the Easy Anti Cheat folder makes it work. Go to this folder, and delete everything in here C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\New World\EasyAntiCheat\Certificates

This let me launch the game but it will not let you log onto your server.

If you buy from Amazon, they will give you a key to unlock the game on Steam. Wonder how long the finger pointing contest between Steam and Amazon will be. I want to play :(

EAC servers are down. This is affecting all steam games that use EAC after the client update; not just New World. The reason people are able to play is because they launched New World *before* the client update for Steam (or didn't restart Steam to patch it)
