"Steam must be open to play"

***FIXED***
Fixed the issue, did this as following:
Steam Library
Right click on game and view local files
Right click NewWorldLauncher
Properties
Compatibilty
Checked run as admin and applied
Restarted Steam
Went back and turned it off and deleted the file name mentioned above

Hello everyone, I got like 3 hours on this game and now i cant play it. when ever i launch the game it says steam must be opened to play and then closes the game. Obviously steam is open, my other games work just fine. here is what I have tried so far:

Verified integrity
Reset pc
Reset steam
logged out of steam
ran game as admin.
Opted out of steam beta

Update: it no longer says that I need to login, it now states "unexpected file, steam_appid.txt" which I found and deleted and still says it.

Im having the same issue .. saying i must be logged into steam.. Well im logged into steam and the game wont play.

Same here. I just updated my graphics drivers and now getting this same error.

close steam, restart your computer!!!!! Do a real cold boot!
Open steam, start game

Terminate steam from task manager, reload it. Still doesn't work, turn off your computer and wait 10 minutes. That will flush all the temporary registry files one of them could be corrupted. Then try again. Still doesn't work? uninstall game, uninstall steam and reinstall them.

Just started happening to me I was played a few hours ago shut down to go out and do a few things come back to this, "steam must be running to play this game. Make sure you are logged into steam, then try again. then it shuts the game down then I get an error from easy anti-cheat untrusted system file steamclient64.dll

Have tried cold shutdown retstarts moved game files to a different drive checked files, deleted the steamclient64.dll ran eacy anti-cheat under admin and attempted to repair still no luck still trying things.....

I tried cold boot twice , meaning I turned off my computer, not a restart. it did not work for me. I am going to rienstall the steam app and see if that works.
