Agreed! I apologize if I offended anyone
I really enjoyed all my Peoples Republic of China friends and friends from the other countries near there like Taiwan over the years in the many games I've played. I'm sure I will continue to do so...it's been quite some time since I've been to Asia, and one of my dreams is to visit there again.
Eek! I'm not sure if I'm allowed to refer to Taiwan as a separate country, lol!
But yeah, I sincerely hope we can stick to game discussion and get back to that. I'm wondering what the reasons are for not having dedicated servers there. What are your thoughts on that? It's not translation costs; wouldn't the revenue created outweigh that? Maybe it's more trying to create a 'global' community rather than a regional one?
Following that thought...
Take aviation for instance. I'm a commercial pilot in real life. The language of air traffic control is English, and those wishing to fly internationally as a pilot must be able to speak and understand that language. Would the Asian community accept servers that are closer with better ping that are hosting the game in a foreign (English) language? I see lots of posts asking for different languages, and I totally understand that desire. But, much like choosing to fly an aircraft across boarders, would you choose to buy & play the game if it was only in English?
Very curious about thoughts on this!
Thanks!!

In fact, Taiwan has not returned to China due to historical reasons, but there is no doubt that he is part of China, and I believe he will return in the near future.
Back to that topic, Amazon actually has official servers in Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, and other Asian countries. I learned from other places that New World also uses Amazon's basic server, so in theory, his addition of servers in Asia will not let the official "start from scratch".
The reason for not adding servers in Asia, I personally guess that may be because Amazon's business does not focus on the Asian region. Amazon did not enter China, the possible reason is because China already has Alibaba.
If there is only an English version, but there are Asian servers, there is no doubt that I will buy the game. Although I would be happier if there is a Chinese version. The biggest reason that affects my purchase of games is the high latency.
I thought one of the SEA game server IP's was in Singapore....read that on one of the posts on the official boards awhile ago. Maybe that's just planned for release.

I wonder if the final decision will be based on the number of pre-orders. Sort of a catch-22; if you cancel or refuse to purchase the game because there is no local server, then Amazon will see no reason to add a server in your area because there isn't a demand that needs to be met.
I didn't know what 'Availability Zones' were, but they described it:
An Availability Zone (AZ) is one or more discrete data centers with redundant power, networking, and connectivity in an AWS Region. AZs give customers the ability to operate gaming and production applications with necessary databases that are more highly available, fault tolerant, and scalable than would be possible from a single data center. All AZs in an AWS Region are interconnected with high-bandwidth, low-latency networking, over fully redundant, dedicated metro fiber providing high-throughput, low-latency networking between AZs. All traffic between AZs is encrypted. The network performance is sufficient to accomplish synchronous replication between AZs. AZs make partitioning applications for high availability easy. If an application is partitioned across AZs, companies are better isolated and protected from issues such as power outages, lightning strikes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and more. AZs are physically separated by a meaningful distance, many kilometers, from any other AZ, although all are within 100 km (60 miles) of each other.

In my opinion, the purchasing power in Asia is huge. If the official reduces network latency, then many people will learn about this game and push more people to buy it.
The BLESS UNLEASHED recently launched in South Korea is also an MMO, but I’m not too optimistic about it
Now Asia lacks a powerful MMORPG game (not only WOW, FF14, GW2)
Population of other world: 2.000.000.000
Every want to get in asia market, but it close for many companies from west. Who dont want to sell product in market with 1.500.000.000 people? Im 100% sure there will be server in Asia, perhaps in Taiwan/Korea/Japan.
Asia is the largest continent in the world, and I hope Amazon finds its way into our region too.
I'm from the Philippines and my latency is around 150ms to 220ms in AP - Southeast Asia (Ephelyn), With random spikes upward of 300ms.
Logged in 68 hours in BETA and enjoyed the experience.
Based on my BETA journey, as long as my ping is less than 200ms, the gameplay is smooth both in PvE and PvP (even during wars). However, when it goes beyond 200ms is when things get nasty.
In my estimate, my ping is less than 200ms, around 75% of the time only...and the other 25%, I'm above 200ms. If the lag spike beyond 200ms happens during PvE, it's okay, I can recover, but if it happens during a PvP match, it usually means death...and it's frustrating.
I'm not wishing for an entirely new server as I know this isn't easy by any stretch. What I wish from Amazon is they optimize their servers to the point where Asian players can enjoy 200ms and below latency, 100% of the time. is that so much to ask? I hope not.
