The game gets extremely CPU intensive in towns when there's lots of people running about. I'd recommend buying it now during the beta and trying it out, you can refund it after any amount of game time played before release (it's what I did). Your GTX 1080 should be more than enough though imo.

I have an i5 4590 so I had a terrible time.

I have the same spec except I have a i7 6700k and I limit the game to 60 fps which I get and it's pretty stable though my fps does drop to around 30 - 40 fps in towns I'm also running the game at 2k

I have gtx1060 and had 0 issues - in towns or even in wars. game ran perfectly.
