Trader, Hunter Thief.. SRO style jobs.
I have been thinking about this for awhile. I will never forget the Silk Road Online trading system. You can sign up in town for a job as a trader at the merchant where you can buy a horse, camel, elephant or other animals as you progress that will haul the goods. Each animal moves at a different speed but can carry different amounts of supplies ( Silk, salt, herbs, pottery etc.. ) that you can bring to other towns to make a profit. the amount of profit is based on distance and the type of goods you are hauling ( for example sheep wool is 7 gold each in First Light but worth 15.4 in Brightwood, where wool is not for sale, everfall sells wool for 12 gold and buys for 9 ) resulting in a risk to reward style of play. The more material you bring the higher the trade rating would be, resulting in stronger NPC thieves spawning to kill you and your caravan at multiple stages of your journey.

Players could also chose to be a hunter where you would escort the traders and receive hunter experience based on the thieves killed and monetary gain if a deal was made with the trader ( or it was party based I forget ).

The last option was to be a thief. Thieves would always be scouting for player caravans to destroy and loot. Thieves could steal a destroyed caravan drop with their own caravan, ( it was a scroll summon so you had multiple tries if your horse died ) however as the loot is collected the level of the trade would increase the same as the player traders would resulting in the spawning of NPC's to try and kill the caravan. A thief would use a recall scroll to bring them to a thieves oasis after 15 minutes or so where they can sell the products at a much lower price than the trader would.

Each of the jobs would be able to advance, unlocking better caravan animals to carry more with less threat level. Different hunter / thief / trader outfits would unlock as level advanced and access to different smaller things like consumables. Players needed to be in town to put on the job outfit to activate the respective title, thieves names would not be displayed when in thief status, just their level and the fact they are a thief.

This is something that stuck with me since I was young, and I feel like this would work well in New World as there are no mounts and a large map layout that can be utilized for stealthy long routes or fast risky routes. Seeing a group of 8 hunters with two or three traders was always a crazy sight to see

(Sorry about repost, figured I could just make its own thread.)

well problem is AGS started off with full loot PVP and changed their goal post after alpha to remove full loot PVP and add PVE. I doubt they can give us these things in a small time frame. plus PVE is mostly grindy where u do town/faction quests for levelling and while exploring you will also feel that zones are kind of repititive rather than having a unique feel. i believe the expeditions were also added just to lure PVE folks to the game. This game does have potential to add many things (since its classless); however, it'll take considerable investments (both in terms of money and time).

I see what you are saying, however the idea is not based on full loot PvP. The only loot you will acquire as a thief killing a trader is their caravan loot that they are knowingly risking. So lets say a level 22 spent 130 gold on their transport materials and they are murdered by a thief. The thief can only take the caravan materials after killing the transport, and those materials would be worth about 75 gold for the thief at the oasis.

This is not "forced PvP" or "Full loot" as no one is forcing you to go on one of these journeys. You can get together with a few others and that would PERFECTLY tie in to small or medium PvP situations that this game is made for. It doesn't even have to be soon, as I know development takes time, however its something implemented in to a game that was made roughly 14 years ago. Im sure the Amazon team is capable as we've seen them pushing out update after update which shows me their dedication. This is not an impossible feat, however it is just a suggestion. I was looking for player feedback, I'm not sure if this is just something that stayed with me personally or if this is actually something desirable.

SRO was a game that was also classless. You would level your weapons and could change them at any time if you had enough skill points invested ( Skill points were farmed similar to EXP ). I am not asking for a game changing mechanic, just another activity that actually involves community. It's some variety, and gives people a reason to get together. This is an MMORPG and community is a large part of the game. I feel this will make friends and enemies, which is exactly the content that drives this type of game.

would be a cool update
As an SRO OG player on Oasis. +1. Also one of the best MMORPG PvP systems for its time and quite unique. Would love to see something akin to trading related to PvP be a thing.
