Hi folks,

Quick question: Will New World support addons such as DPS meters, etc? I personally hope not but would like to know if there was a statement by Amazon or so.

I personally love addons. It adds a extra level of customization to the game which games that doesn't support it just cant achieve. The nice thing about addons is that players who doesn't like them doesn't need to install them. I wont disagree with anyone saying that addons adds an advantage but in all honesty its really not that big. Its mostly just a quality of life thing.

But If people really feel the advantage is larger than im making it out to be Amazon could always just add servers that doesn't have addon support. That way each party can get what they want :).

People are talking about adding huge features when Amazon cant even fix a single bug since closed beta or draw a few armor sets to sell in their store. Its like whoever made this game died and took the source code to his grave

It's kinda funny how many ppl don't want things like DPS meters, just so they can continue to ''It's a game I play like I want to'' aka throwing all responsibility onto their teammates by doing barely 20% of the dps they should be doing.
DPS Meters are there to help people optimize their builds to tweak them to perfection, reaching the highest consistent dps for Raids, and best Dps burst rotations for PvP.
And they help you finding who never to invite to either PvE or PvP ever again when ya notice they are lvl 60 and doing less than 3k dps.

Sure, destroy a persons soul by not allowing them to engage in development to improve the games UI system. Can we get a mini map? But that's cheating you will see all ores and resources on the map. How is that cheating if the range is set to the same range as the ugly horrible designed radar system at the top center of your screen? Changing a UI is not necessarily something to argue about. If someone wishes to create addons, let them. Addons can never hinder your gameplay but improve it. It also cannot change game mechanics giving the upper hand to your opponent as we've seen in the past companies like blizzard DO NOT allow it.

Let people have fun and create ideas that Amazon might consider using in the future. I mean, it is free ideas right?

So far they seem to be saying no. People made a minimap and they said that EAC will ban them if it gets detected.

All they said is they wont officially support mods, with that said a dps meter would be good, people saying otherwise are just bad.

Shroud asked a developer, who was watching his stream yesterday, if the mini-map was allowed and they said that it probably wasn't a good Idea to use in case you get banned and they have not finished discussing if they want mods/overlays yet.

BS! It does not give you an advantage. It's the same as that cheap radar they have placed up top which was created in 2 mins. If the minimap acts the same as radar then there's no problem.

I believe adding addons especial dps meter will help us weave out the poor performance players to our company / group. Also help be competitive with others and friends. Gear score is a way to say how good you maybe but not proof that you know how to play your character to maximize its dps. that's my opinion, I really hope addons will be implemented in game.

dps meters are not needed in NW.
