EVGA even stated themselves that it was faulty hardware:

There are people spamming this forum now with threads about this - many with misinformation and often by people not even owning the game or even knowing much about hardware. Just read tech site news and decide for yourself.
But just keep in mind - this game has 1 Million players - there are a few cards that broke (the outcry would be way bigger if this was a frequent issue) - and there are tons of GPUs (so its just a small fraction of the GPUs). If you sell millions of GPUs chances are some will be faulty thats perfectly normal even for the best companies - whats important is how they handle the warranty.
That being said i have a 2080 super Rog and its been fine until now
So what? So this is the first game that pushed one of your components - the one that had issues before ...
Also how do you know the game is poorly optimized? ...
What are your GPU issues? Is anything in your PC overclocked? Did you remove dust at some point?
No it isn't. The issue on the EVGA cards was poor soldering on a mosfet joint, it had nothing to do with the Nvidia GPU chip. Stop spreading nonsense. AFIK no Nvidia manufactured card has failed yet only third party cards. Third party manufacturers did increase the power draw on some of their cards but that was their decision not Nvidia's.
wow..
im sure u know it better than he
thats seriously surprising how many "professionals" appear on steam and disagree with EVGA about their statement.. i mean..EVGA admit fail, but you say they lie?
im almost afraid to ask.. but.. why do u think they lie? i mean they admit their fail, refund their customers or change their cartds for new ones, when they ask.. why they do that?
Just watch your memory junction (not core) temps and you will be fine.
The EVGAs died due to dodgy solderings:

Less than 1% were affected, even though influencers like JayzTwoCents made a big deal about it.
Most of the users here have absolutely no idea, and if your Card dies, it can happen in any game, not just New World. In that case, you shouldn't play anything at all.
EVGA is a good manufacturer - there will always be faulty products when you sell a lot of products - whats important is how they handle it - and from what ive read the did handle it very well.
I have a card from a different brand but after seeing how they handeled this situation im porbably more likely to buy one of their cards in the future than before.
At 1440P my gpu hit 130c almost instantly.
I turned it down (even though i shouldnt have to do that) and it ran good for about 20 minutes and eventually it started HARD crashing my computer. Id have to unplug it from the wall just to get it to reboot. Not good
In order to not almost brick my entire pc i had to MASSIVELY underclock and undervolt, which is absolutley ridiculous and not normal for a game to force me to do. And no, no other game has ever done this.
