I wouldn't call the 3000 series cards trash because of one game though. But if there is a manufacturer issue, it needs to be adressed.
Those GPU's are beasts in other applications.
I don't have an oppinion about the game. I haven't played it yet, but I'm interested.
Google searches for 3080s/3090s by EVGA and Gigabyte likewise reveal posts on other games' forums where owners of those cards claim that different games have bricked their machines. This is by far not isolated to New World.
..before you call me a mindless defender of New World, I have a litany of issues with the game right now. Things that have already been fixed are not among them. There are a lot of poorly coded and shoddily implemented things in this game, though.

now, lets watch how GPU really works

it was only EVGA FTW3 3090s because there was a manufacturing default confirmed by evga.
stop spreading misinformation
They did, evga is replacing the cards affected by this.
That article is old. New World is still bricking 3090s from both EVGA and Gigabyte. 3080 also seems to be affected:

Did some googling a bit ago, and it seems like people are reporting similar issues with other games from both the EVGA and Gigabyte cards. Not sure if we can put this one at the feet of Amazon, but it is something people need to be aware of and keep and eye out for. A piece of software typically should not be capable of destroying hardware, as modern graphics cards have built-in failsafes to prevent overheating. However, a flaw in the design can be revealed that results in the card experiencing spectacular heat death and resulting in a very upset owner who probably paid way too much for their piece of hardware.
And man, do I feel for those people. I've got a bit of vicarious rage bubbling up thinking about being in their situation. Doubly so the people who may have paid a scalper nearly $3000 for a 3090 card only to be unable to RMA because they do not have proof of purchase from the scumlord they bought the thing from. Looks like EVGA and Gigabyte both require matching serial numbers on the receipt from the retailer and on the card itself before they'll cough up a replacement. And ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, does that blow for people caught in that situation.
