Game won't start; stuck at loading screen
I purchased New World through Steam. When I run it, it hangs at the initial "New World" loading screen. The cursor is a spinning blue circle. It stays there forever.

I've tried:
  • Verifying the game files
  • Uninstalling/reinstalling
  • Rebooting multiple times
  • Updating all drivers and rebooting
  • Running as Administrator
  • Uninstalling; deleting AppData files; deleting registry keys; reinstalling; verifying

I played the beta a couple weeks ago and it worked fine. I also played the early alpha two years ago and that worked fine.

System:
  • Ryzen 9 5950X
  • Nvidia Founders Edition 3070 Ti
  • 32GB RAM
  • Tons of free disk space

I'm out of ideas for things to try. Anyone else have this problem, or any suggestions beyond what I've already tried?

Thanks!

I wonder if it has something to do with your firewall blocking something because I recall at that point the firewall “allow program” popped up at the splash screen

I checked that, and it looks right to me (New World is listed, private/public networks open). Good tip though. I also followed everything in the Amazon Network Troubleshooting Guide[www.amazongames.com]. I do wonder if the UDP port forwarding might be an issue, but I can't change that on my router (no access; it's complicated). Everything else I play works fine without explicit port forwarding rules, though.

Unfortunately you've done everything i would think, very odd issue considering to my knowledge nothing super big should have happened from beta to launch

I've got a few more things you said you cleared Appdata files is that both the AGS files in Local AND Roaming because they are in both locations.

I know you said you ran as administrator im assuming you did this through the executable? I was suggesting you run the executable instead of going through steam.

Regarding the port issue is I've hosted many steam related game servers before and used the default 27015 port which new world uses, and forgotten that the server would be up trying to play a game which uses the default port and in every case it would never get hung up at the loading screen it would just say connection timed out. Also I purposefully blocked my port and received this error. https://imgur.com/a/k5fwQEy

Just looked through online stuff someone said if you have an GPU overclock especially with MSI afterburner to reset that to standard. From what ive heard about this game is its very demanding on your parts and sometimes even max's your usage on the main menu so overclocks could be causing a crash/loading issue

tldr: I have an Arctis 7 wireless headset. The game won’t launch with “Arctis 7 Game” as the audio device, but will launch with “Arctis 7 Chat”.

For details, see this post I made on the official forums[forums.newworld.com].
