Asheron's Call was E P I C.... 53 contiguous months of updates! Hidden story-lines, events, seasons that changed not only foliage but creatures coats. I still recall the end of the beta event...fire elemental as far as the eye could see.

Better... hmm... It's a different game, for the most part. Hard for me to compare the two.

Personally I think AC at launch was quite simply magical and almost unfair to compare against. Spell recipes were only discovered through experimentation (before split pea) and things like trading systems were non-existent so players organically created their own. The world was simply massive and largely unexplored which meant that someone would have to discover a location or a quest for the first time instead of it being completely spoon fed.

If New World can capture even a small amount of that magic, I'd call it a win.

P.S. Still rocking out on Levistras

Nothing will ever be like Asherons Call friend, but it certainly shares a few vibes.

Absolutely correct, single greatest game I have ever played and I have been playing games since you had to code them yourself on a Sinclair. The spell discovery system was amazing, the loot system was amazing....it should have been the model for all mmorpg's instead we got WoW
