The Diving Helmet and Relics!
Another great advantage with the Diving Helmet is now you can scour the river and ocean floors for "Relics" and the relics also re-spawn so over time you have a steady stream of dinks ($) (not to mention crafting great items!), you can make a fortune and have a steady stream of income!

Oceans? Last time I tried that I got nothing. Fresh water seems to have a lot as do beaches, but saltwater tiles are barren for relics, in my experience.

I'll have to check again and if so, update my guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3094604586

Do you use the Diving Helmet and the metal detector at the same time? I go through the rivers a lot for critters and havnt noticed anything just spawning surface. Unless I am misunderstanding your post.

With your Diving Helmet on, press 'E' to dive and walk and use your metal detector. You also need the Metal Detecting License from Fletch for Permit Points 500 Permit Points.

You can make some big Dinks selling them (at least 50 each) to Jimmy.

Much better used for Franklyns inventions and then using in the key-cycler later on when you have that available, so that you have plenty of keys for the island reef.

I don't sell my keys, very valuable for the Reef and the Underground Mines.

You shouldn't sell any relics though really, there are other ways to make the equivalent amount of dinks, and with the key-cycler you can convert all the non-key relics into keys.

Early game you don't have access to Jimmy or 700k to spend on one item. Selling some relics in early game isn't bad as you can't do much with them and you need the money.

Yeah but they're not nearly as common as any other money maker in the game, just relocate wattle plants and make the brew and sell that, it's much better than wasting relics which aren't as easy to come by.

Kegs are expensive now though. Billy can them to tea is a decent money maker at 1,595 dink, but sometimes you just need the money. Brew is mid game at best considering how much iron it takes and how you need iron for so much early game. If we tell new players to hoard most items, it really limits their capacity to make the dink they need to grow.

Honestly just making Apple jam is good enough, money isn't really a limiting factor in the early game as you need to build up friendships with the NPC's before they'll consider moving in anyway, the only thing you'll ideally want dinks for early are on is the mine pass when you get access to the mine, resources and licenses are gonna be the main bottlenecks early on.

You 'can' sell relics early on, but i really don't think it's worth it in the long run, you're getting a quick pay-off in exchange for giving yourself hassle later on.

If players are desperate for early game dinks, just plant about 50 apple trees, make a ton of billy cans and make jam, apple jam sells for 3100 each, then just use wattle and bottlebrush tea for food in the mines.

That was how I used to make money early game, the one issue with that is often a new player will be reliant on fruit salad in the new stamina system. I guess enough trees will compensate for this though and still let the player sell. So much clicking though. Urgh.

Also, cooked apples sell for more than jam. 3900 vs 3100. It's the only jam you actually get less money than if turned into jam vs cooking.
