Sky Fest

Today I had my first Sky Fest. To bad I do not get the hang of it.
The kite is not doing what it is suppose to do. It says to use the "use"-key to make the kite go higher. When I do this, my kite gets closer to me. I have no mods, the keyboard setting are standard.
I could not hit any floating lights. The angle you have to look up under, is really weird.
It is almost impossible to see where the light is, so aiming your kite is also almost impossible. I tried for the whole time the lights were there. I did not hit a single light, so no tickets, so no prices. This is a realy bad in-game game.
It is really a shame. It is the first time it did not gave me fun, just frustration. No more Sky Fest for. I just collect the kites.

Worked for me, Kite went out a little, would have liked it to move out further, if you have something close to you, a fence or something it will get closer to you, It then sits in the middle of the screen and as you move around the kite will move to the centre point.

Thanks for the info. I will try it next time. But I have to wait 1 year in game before I can try it these solutions.

i tried using the helicopter but it wouldn't break the balloons. Seems odd.

If you "use" the Kite by hold down the button it goes up a bit higher. I got about 50 tickets that way it was not hard.

horrible mechanics.

i even looked up a video, just to know how does it look to get that lantern hit with a kite. didn't help me in the end. the lanterns fly too high, the space i have in the town is too tiny, got stuck constantly somewhere, the islands i am on are too tiny for the space i would need to run. the perspective needed to look up from the ground to even see where a lantern is, is the absolute killer here. i even reloaded a day, just to try a second time, didn't help either. that whole thing is well intended but ill born, sorry. already the idea that you have to break the main rule io to get a lantern hit cause it just does not really work, yeah.

Using the kite was quite the challenge for sure but I don't mind a challenge every now and than. Slingshot is also a great idea as 100% Recycled Awesome suggested. May try that next time as well.

from the ground it's not possible to hit the laterns, they just float too high. i have managed to get 17 points with the help of a Hang Glider, jumping from one roof of a building to another. most points were made from the roof of the Bank since it's the highest in my town. some of the laterns i could hit with the kite but some were close enough to hit with a spear while jumping up at the same time. it's the same technique as hitting flying Bats in the Mines or flying Magpies.
but as i said before, from the ground it's a frustrating endevour. from the ground i didn't hit a single lantern.
so as a requirement either a million in the bank to get Jimmy's Hang Glider or after some lucky runs in the Mines.

without a Hang Glider, just forget it.

i still think, this shouldn't be that hard. & it shouldn't need a Hang Glider. it should be possible to hit a lantern with some skill & concentration from the ground.

The real issue with the lantern is the camera angle. You can hit plenty with it, it's just hard to target properly.

I don't bother. Use the slingshot, build a few towers with ladders or position the balloon and slingshot the lanterns from the tops.

It's how I got over 300 in one skyfest:

it shouldn't also need a slingshot ... or towers built extra for the event
if it does, then the main idea defeats itself, is a failure

I just had this event for the first time and I've had to pause it as after 20 tickets as I started getting a headache from the changing perspective of the camera angles trying to use the kite. I'll just see how long I can endure as checking the wiki for the prize list, nothing jumps out at me as something I really need to get.

I havent played for a year so seeing this post and the Autumn update I know now why the stamina system is not what I remember and seems completely borked.

i use now Wattle Flower Tea for general stamina
for normal fights, Croco Skewer. for Alpha fights Mushroom Soup.

regarding Sky Fest
last time i just went to Island Reef, was a way more entertaining & rewarding time spent
got the Leaf Glider, Pocket Watch next to all the other nice things

I tried the kite the first time I got the Skyfest too, and found it impossible. It's pretty easy with the advanced slingshot and a stack of iron ore. If you go away from the town so the other NPCs don't pick up your tickets, you should be able to get 70-80.
