How to look after a Chook
I bought a Chook and took it home with me. I made a coop. I have put a fence around it but the Chook keeps on escaping and getting attacked. How do I stop this from happening and is this actually the way to look after a baby Chook please?

How big is the fence around it? Minimum dimensions should be a 3x3 space(so 4x4 fencing).
Did you place a gate? If so, remove it. NPCs wander around at night, and one might have opened up the gate and left it open.

If there is a patch of dirt or sand inside the fence, the chook can also step on it and wander out of its fence.

Make sure you also place a feeder in its area, and fill it daily with animal food.

Thanks very much. I will make the fence bigger and make sure it doesn't escape. Many thanks

Don't forget to buy plenty of food because( at least for me ) Irwin takes his sweet time returning back to town unless you've built him a house.
Don't forget to pet it too because you do get points for that as well.

If you have a grinder, you can grind grass seed to make animal feed

Irvin sometimes sells Chicken Whistles and Vombat Whistles - so you can use them to get a specific animal type to follow you.
Also Harvested Corn can be used in the Mill Grinder to make animal feed (produces far more than grass seeds)

I found this out the hard way. Make sure you make the fencing around your coop entirely connected to one another. The chook can get between the fence and the soil and get out. I didn't have my original enclosure fully connected as I figured I could just span the fencing between high piled dirt but she still got out and eaten by diggos. :(

I have a chicken coop 20 stone fences wide an 40 stone fences long. I also have a Hard wood Gate. I do have the fence 1 level of dirt high all the way around with steps inside and out. I got 9 chickens, all have coops, and feeders. They can't get out and critters can't get in to eat them. You can save up and put an auto-feeder in but it costs too much to build. (If you let the chickens roam the town you will loose chickens. They get lost and sleep in the wilderness and DIE). You need the Chicken whistle from the Chook Dealer (Irwin).
