Game looks fun, worried about the time limit
I've finished the demo and while it was extremely fun, I'm worried about the time limit that I've seen mentioned here a few times. How does it work, what does it affect, and how strict is it? I tend to like exploring to find upgrades and items in games like these, but with that and my tendency to get lost and miss extremely necessary (and sometimes very obvious) things which ends up wasting tons of time, I'm worried the time limit will end up ruining the game for me. I know its possible to disable it, but i'd rather not turn it off without knowing more or less for sure how the time limit affects the rest of the game.

The main character and every other NPC are all on timers with varying starting times and they will turn UNSIGHTED, basically die, when it runs out, the time for the main character is a bit more generous but some NPCs have a short starting time. There is a limited resource scattered around the map that can add some time to those characters and there are also other ways of increasing your own time if you really need it. It will be ~very~ difficult to save every character in your first playthrough with the timer fully enabled. But we do encourage you replay it at least once in NG+, which should be a much faster run!

If, however, this whole premise makes you too anxious and you feel that might take away from the experience of the game, we do indeed recommend you play with Explorer Mode on, which makes the timer not an issue, at least on a first playthrough.

Yikes, that sounds pretty stressful. Thanks for the help though!

No Problem! We hope the game is still very enjoyable on Explorer Mode though, especially if you liked the demo!

I was having the same thoughts but then I gave it a try on Explorer Mode with ONLY the slow down option activated and I thoroughly enjoyed it. You still have that time limit but you don't really have to worry about it. I got like 95%-ish completion and I still got plenty of time left.

If you enjoyed the demo, go for it, it's a great game IMHO.

Hmmm. So when I was wasting time running around and doing puzzles and fought those big bloby unsighted guys, that was because I was taking too long?

pretty late but just wanted to thank the devs for including an option to remove the timer, I know it may not have been part of how they'd originally envisioned the game but it really helps me quite a bit

brains sure are gloriously weird and diverse

There is a secret in the game to reset the timer and get all NPCs back
So you shouldnt be worried about having to finish this game in a rush.

God, I hate games with time limits. Thanks for the insight, I won't be purchasing this game.

if you had read the thread, you would have seen there is literally a mode in-game to remove the timer
