Suddenly everyone stops getting more water, running out of water while there is plenty
HI I have had a few "normal" Playthroughs now where after I get around 60, 70+ beavers, even with 7 pumping stations they just don't seem to be used, even with 20 unemployed beavers, everyone gets thirsty, even with a fully staffed hauling post, I can't recover, plenty of water, this happens during the wet season, so eventually everyone just dies of thirst. I have no idea why people are not using the pumping stations properly, I have tried adding work hours reducing them... pausing everything else... can't figure it out.

Hi,
If you are playing in normal mode ,that is surely because you don't have enought storage..( in hard mode , too, i think finally ^^)
As soons as possible with the first gears ,one or two medium tank was built..
Generally , i finished a game with two large tanks only...
And with the folk tails , two large water pumps are enought too.

Hi, you can increase pumps' workplace priority to guarantee it getting workers before other places.
You can also make it easier for beavers to get enough water by spreading out water tanks, especially closer to their housing. If your city is spread pretty wide, it's likely that the beavers are getting thirst while finishing tasks that require them to walk a long distance. You can mitigate it by making the city more compact or separating the far parts into a second district.
Having 20 unemployed beavers and a non-operation workplace is weird though, and would suggest that the pumps are not connected to the District Center properly. Are the pumps in different districts by any chance? Could you post a screenshot with the unused pump selected?

The water Pumps seem to be in use, but they get used up right away, and stop being added to any other water tanks, so it is like out of no where the amount of water needed exceeds what the pumps are doing, or the amount of hours a beaver can work on them. I don't know if I should be needing 7 or 8 water pumps for this many beavers, I do know when I can survive long enough to get the deep water pump with the Mech Beaver running it, that seems like it supplies plenty of water. I also just noticed with the Iron teeth a similar thing happening with food too, where suddenly can't supply enough of it none makes it to the storage units, and everyone starts to starve. I don't really have any warning in either experience, I can have 1k water stored, same with food, and suddenly as I play I start seeing beavers thirsty or hungry. I just thought about something, I like to play game at highest speed more often than not, could I be causing a calculation of needs issue? I do find the Iron faction to be harder to control population, not as easy to keep the balance of new born beavers to ones dying and needs for new jobs I create etc.

Ok I even downloaded then customized a map for testing, and had 400 water then out of no where no water, everyone thirsty and 4 water pumps not enough here is screenshot

Could you send us an unmodded save at logs@mechanistry.com to investigate the issue?

From what I'm seeing. that looks like a combo issue.

You have 50+ beavers. Per day I think its now 2 per beaver, per day. so that's 100 (@3 its 150) water needed each day. Your storage shown is barely enough for
a singe day worth of water stored... give or take a bit. I know you may have more barrels, but this is just general information.

At minimum, you should go for at least 5 days stored on easy, and 10 days on normal. The one pump you show had the priority set to grey arrow(top right of the info graphic box), the arrows?..water and most food should be marked at the highest priority. The double green up arrows.

If you do not have the priority set high enough beavers just wont work in the buildings, if they don't feel like it. No matter what needs aren't actually being met, the pumps being marked in grey just tells the beavers that "Eh, its not important enough to worry about" ...then they run out of water and you wonder why.

Like people who think Farms should be stopped be cause food is at the grocery store. Its a weird game mechanic, but if the water pump isn't marked high enough priority, they'll ignore the water to go chop trees down while they die of thirst.
