The pumps have filters. That is why they don't suck up badwater, and why you need a separate pump for that. We aren't talking about wild animals. These are civilized beavers. They don't drink from puddles.
which means actually they can't swim at all except in the swimming pools you build.
Heck I wouldn't even mind it if it got them sick or something. There's already precedent for that in the game. Just feels a bit weird that they wouldn't try to drink from the river to prevent certain death. I understand it's a game and all, but this part genuinely bugs me for some reason.
