an easy way to see things to improve it are found by clicking on any beaver and looking at the list of things they have done. Youll see what I mean.
The easy way to unlock the other faction is to run a small colony on normal mode, as well being needs to be per beaver, so if you have 100 you need to get all 100 fed with both potatoes & carrots while if you have 18 you only need 18 fed with both, and so on. Too many makes it frustrating. Normal mode keeps you from having to worry about droughts, just dam the river reasonably well and ignore them. Try the terraces map if you want an easy win here.
