Roadmap?
Is there a roadmap available anywhere on what's next for the game in terms of features and updates etc?

Probably this is the price we pay for a game which wants to be well polished as soon as it hits the Steam Store. I prefer it this way.
But indeed I find that only water management is not enough.
The game is too simple.

It's their first release - and it's on early access. What were you expecting?

I'm impressed by how polished it is etc... but would love to know what's in planning for the next updates

I too would like a roadmap. I know this takes a while to make and iron out, but figured I'd reinforce the desire for it.

Roadmaps are great for us, but bad for developers. One of the big point of Early Access, is for us to give feedback. If everything is planned out, whats the point?
Not to mention, it gives very little leeway, if somethings takes longer then planned.

Players can give feedback to the roadmap as well. Roadmap is an good way to tell players what developers are going to do. Sometimes developers may implement features players don't like, or forget to implement important features. With the roadmap players can point them out to avoid these situations.

+1 for some kind of roadmap. While I know that things can change at least some kind of rough idea would be great

I have seen enough Early Access to know that road maps are not a good idea to make public. Dont think I have seen a single game, that have managed to stick to it, even when not adding any dates.

Not to mention all the "when is this coming?" or "why play X amount for this game, when road map says most of it is still missing"... And so on, goes the forum.

Buying into early access and asking for a roadmap from the get go? Kind of missing the point of playing early access, mate. You are the cartographer for the roadmap, by reporting any bugs and suggesting ideas to the developer.

At least it's not as bad as the folks who whine on the forums about bugs from day 1, but never report them direct to the developer.

I don't understand why some are against Roadmaps. It's a layer of transparency to help facilitate sales, quell complaints from existing purchasers before they happen, and help keep people informed on what feedback is being implemented potentially or at least looked into. Look at Subnautica for a good iteration of this.

I find it incredibly odd to not have a public version of what the developer is working on available to those who have effectively invested into the game. Investors in the classic sense expect progress reports. Are the progress reports EVERYTHING that is happening in the day to day of a company for those investors? Never. So should the public roadmap be.
Not everything, just where they think they are headed at the moment, and it constantly changes.

I should also point out that tentative roadmaps collates data aka suggestions from players together to spark further talking points among the players. There really is no major downside here. Kinda hard to be a cartographer as was mentioned by someone else if you can't see the current state of the land.

I'm only against roadmaps that place time periods on them (ie Winter 2021 [x] will be added). Then you get the forums flooded with people crying if said thing isn't added at that time, or the roadmap is delayed. Otherwise a general one that indicates future content/plans is a good idea.

If you click on the feedback button you see a lot of things and which one are under consideration or development. https://timberborn.featureupvote.com/

my god no. i'm absolutely against roadmaps. it places pressure and obligations on the devs. and remember roadmaps are changing all the time. better just stick to "release in fall 20XX" better than a roadmap.

roadmaps ar fine there just an indication. not a blue print
