Underground Ruins, How do I find them?
Trying to place a mine but I can not see any mines on map. I do see old rusty towers but mine wont connect or go on those. And normal miners collect those towers anyway so I expect thats not what I need for mine. Any help be great :-)

Depending on what map you're on, they could be underwater or under badwater. I'm currently playing Waterfalls, and both underground ruins start out flooded on that map.

I thought I read badwater was update 5? I think im on update 4. And Im playing... I forget it was the one that sounded the most flat land. And dont see anything like that on my map.

Edit- Never mind soon as went back to map and went back to searching finally found one location. I hope its infinite...

Right, ignore badwater then. I forget there are people who don't play on experimental. :)

Yeah the underground ruins are infinite so long as you've invested in the mines and resources needed to mine.

I might jump to experimental after I play a game or two. This is my literal first try at game.

I don't recommend going to Experimental branch for now -- enjoy the stable version (Update 4) for now, it's got so much contents already, and Experimental branch is meant only for those who can provide valuable feedback to developers for finetuning.

Underground Mines are infinite and each faction can choose from 2 recipes on what to do there -- Folktails can either get scrap metal or Science Points, while IronTooth can get scrap metal or "efficient scrap metal" (double or triple the amount if they add explosives to the mix).
Underground mines are a late-game thing, you should have your colony fully established and 'safe' (stockpiles of water and food, some entertainment, reasonable work hours) before going for those.

I am at that point actually. I dont even pay attention to droughts. As have huge lake and levees setup. And food and water is going good. Water stays over 3k. Food I just upped but I have gone afk for long periods at time with no issues. Have not explored all the tech yet... I am currently mass producing dynamite to level a mountain near me to rebuild my city. Just really focused on rebuilding city like some I seen in images. Multi story sprawling cities. Only thing I do not have going is medicine. But 35 cycles in and not really needed it. "I am on easy though."

On factorio I normally play with all Bob/Angel mods. With some prydon thrown in as well. So I am kinda used to complexity.

If badwater becomes an automatic part of the game I cannot avoid I will stop playing.

I just see it as a obstical to work around and engineer work a rounds. Other wise game is bit to easy. True im on easy atm as just starting. But after like 3-4 cycles I can afk play. For a brand new player thats is bit too easy.
