They are herbivores and prefer to eat leaves, bark, twigs, roots, and aquatic plants.

The beavers that are eating the fish are called otters ;)

We need otters too :)

Otters! A new faction, they eat fish, crawfish, and clams.

Yeah, but beavers most often do not manufacture dynamite. So, why not go fishing. LOL. Oh, idea... fishing with dynamite.

TBH this game is getting nowhere without any significant update.

Humans are gone, so that sentient beavers can make exactly the same mistakes humans did. After all, with humans gone, there's little of human history left to learn from. Apparently, becoming bipedal made them forget how to swim too.

More important, do beavers fish with dynamite (ala Crockodile Dundee)?

The lore quote on the aquatic farmhouse is, "There was once a rumour we eat fish. Disgusting!"

Given that, I wouldn't hold my breath for fishing being added for the beavers.

Cheap cat food will often have gains and other plants in it. It ends up being wasteful filler mostly because cats can not process the plant protein. Yet, cats can get some nutrient from plants. They can also help digestive problems by eating grass.

If they added meat into the game. Maybe part of cooked meals. Not as something the beavers can eat directly. Lore could even be that a new beaver race eats meat for the taste/favor. It could give them a happiness buff but provide no food value.

Pandas eat so much because they aren't biologically designed to eat plants (bamboo). Since they are not eating the right food. They have to eat a lot of it to get what they need.

an otter faction sounds cute, but may be out of scope. I am hoping one of the next big updates is a new faction. Having 3 seems minimal to release with, to me.

The issue is with carnivores eating plants. Herbivores can usually eat meat just fine. Plants have tough cell walls, so it take a lot of processing to break them down into something useful. Flat grinding teeth, and a digestive system capable of handling it. Meat, on the other hand, is easily digestible. Thats why carnivores don't have flat grindy teeth (meat doesn't require it) , and why their digestive system is simple compares to herbivores.

Beavers, being an herbivore, should have little or no problem with digesting meat. They just don't.
