**Strategy** - Compact Building and Stacking
So, I figured out a way to vertically stack large warehouses with the triple lodge. Every building is accessible via an internal 3-wide path.

the basic structure looks like this with single platforms being used to allow passage and the warehouses to be built on top of each other

This is what a layer of the structure looks like from the top.

Once you have this, use double platforms to build up to the world height and cap with AWE buildings. Was able to get 400 pop out of this tower.

I tried doing a two-wide internal path structure but ran into distance issues. Curious if anyone else has compact building strategies?

its a nice build to pull off, very impressed
a few questions though, for the people living at he top, wont it take ages for them to make their way down? are they still productive?
It seems like such a long walk all the way to the top, don't you loose a lot of work time when they have to walk all those stairs?

I used a 2x3 without issues. That 3x3 definitely gonna eat up extra travel distance, but if it's functional and you want something that big I don't see any issues.

They are still productive. Even though the roof gets to the red part of the line, the only time they are up there is for recreation and sleep/wakeup. Evening they are not productive anyway. It only take one half game 'hour' to go from top to bottom because of the double stairs. I actually have the opposite problem now of way too many unemployed beavers.

Most of that storage is definitely not strategically advantageous when you get near the top if you consider beavers going up and down multiple times a day to try and fill them. You might be spending just about an entire day moving a few things.

unemployed beavers are not always a problem though, first of all you can expand very quickly if you have spare beavers walking around in your city, second, and most important, they can fill jobs of the beavers that died.
Personally i try to have at least 10% of my beavers be unemployed just to keep a reserve in case i get a massive death streak going around in beaverville

For me that half an hour it takes them to walk the stairs is worrying. Imagine them walking all the way to the top for recreation or sleep, only to realize that they are thirsty, they will need to walk all the way back down, drink, than go back up again. total travel time 1.5 hours.

I am very impressed with this build, its planned out and executed in a good way, but ill stick to smaller builds with less travel time, much less chance of people dying of thirst

This is a great point. I already adjusted the filters to only allow for infrequently used items (scrap, metal blocks, etc) towards the top. But potentially after half height of warehouses it should be replaced by additional housing or something else. Thoughts?

It's impressive to look at, not very useful though. My thoughts would be to build metal platforms above your industries and farming and place triple lodges no more than two levels high atop the platforms, the housing topped with roofs and rooftop terraces, with the roofs placed on the center lodge of a 2 high 3 wide block. This also allows for ground space under the platforms for campfires, which are clearly lacking based on your abysmal 11 happiness score, although I don't doubt you are lacking in a lot of other happiness factors too.
The fact is it is becomes quite apparent the longer you play and the larger your population, that tall is not the best solution, only tall enough to satisfy housing while balancing needs. The tribute to ingenuity has enormous range and is the only monument that has a limit to how many you can build due to limited metal deposits and if well placed, all your beavers will traverse its range at some point during their day either going to work, play or sleep.

It may be a noob question: But, why do you want 400 beavers in one district? How many jobs can you fit in a district?

very impressed!

After playing through this and setting up other districts, I'll admit you really don't. I usually end up maxing out of open positions at 350.

After playing through this for 10 cycles, I've found that the vertical distance isn't really an issue. Screen cap was before the score update (11/15 for all districts, big was 13) so comfort was just one bar. But yeah, still need to think about campfires now in addition to rooftops.

I'm wondering if anyone has some vertical building strategies using metal blocks. I'm starting to build up a pile and I haven't seen much of that.
