I've got over a 100 hours easily enough in the first several days and then slowed down. I'd say it's worth what it costs, but hoping it'll continue to evolve into something worth far more. As far as describing it? Just a interesting city builder with a lot of development put into exploring water mechanics.

I like this game a lot, but try watching some YouTube videos of long-term play, like where the same person plays a game lasting at least 2 hours, preferably 3-4 hours. Then watch another play, a different person, for a couple more hours. That'll help you decide.

You could wait until the devs add more content to the game, more stuff to build, more simulation, a 3rd tribe of Beavers and perhaps even a 4th and 5th tribe. But the game is in Early Access, which means that as it gets added to, the price will go up. It likely won't happen fast, but it's still a consideration, do you grab the game now while it's cheap, or wait 6, 12 or 18 months to grab a more polished and feature-rich game but costing more.

Whether it is good is of course always a subjective impression. My impression is that this is a pearl among building games. I exceeded 100 hours yesterday and haven't had the game that long and it has been worth the price for a long time on its own. I have much more expensive games that I haven't played for that long.

The water dynamics are just awesome. The vertical construction is a great idea and the ways to realize things are just fantastic. I'm also a player who doesn't run the day at 4x speed but just skips the evenings quickly. From a certain size you always have something to do at normal speed and if not, then I like to just watch the beavers from time to time.

I can highly recommend the game to you without a bad conscience if you like building games.

Watch some youtube plays to see if you like it. Here's one that a friend of mine is working on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLZGZkjFGa0&list=PL9YKWZMX7BD82axSvgvpilmGUfmnOqH30

If you like open-world sandbox builder type games, you'll probably like Timberborn because it's like that but with water dynamics, which is quite fun.

But as has been mentioned it is Early Access and is missing quite a bit of content, so you may want to wait for the full release.

It's pretty good. It's still a work in progress but the attention and feedback from the developers make me confident they'll continue seeing it through.

All good signs and I'm not even on the discord.

Very innovative and well thought out. It is by no means a hard game, but it's easy to lose within the first few cycles if you aren't careful. Once you understand the game a bit after a few hours of play, it rewards you with what you'd expect from a permanent city builder with a known disaster duration, frequency and severity: a beautiful (in your eyes) city with a bunch of beavers running around, damming up reservoirs, leveling land, building farms and industries.
It's definitely a sight when you complete a powerstation of 20x24 tiles that pumps 5.5k electricity into your system independent of wind or drought

It is kind boring, i was just expecting more i guess. i am still going to give it a few more hours of my time and see if i start to enjoy it anymore but at this point i regret buying it.
I think she liked it :)

If like me, you love Dwarf Fortress, but didn't always care about the admittedly fantastic world building, and DEEP, deep history and character backgrounds of that game... And you got attacked in DF before you had built a sufficient military, then wished you didn't have to bother with any defenses at all sometimes... And, if you wished DF looked better so you could see it in rotating 3-D without an external program that crashed on you repeatedly... And, if you like mostly the building and playing around with mechanical works, such as bridges, windmills, power gears, and water routing and management, but don't like losing your colony to sudden, catastrophic, massive flooding... And, if you don't mind building a colony with multiple "Z" levels, but they are almost entirely above ground and not delved deep into caverns and tunnels... And, if you would like to build a huge colony without losing many hours of effort due to some strange mood spiral of doom and madness... then, you might enjoy losing many hours of your life in Timberborn. While reminiscent of Dwarf Fortress, Timberborn is at the same time both less stressful, also less exciting, and yet, more peaceful and chill than DF, while providing much the same interest in creative building and much the same charm. Sign on to Timberborn and prepare to lose a few hours in a world of logs and water.
