1. Do you see the pixels of the headset and the text is using all those pixels?
2. Is it text that is too small, so there just isn't enough resolution?
3. Is it the same between titles or only happening in a specific game?
You'll have a hard time finding better pixel density in a consumer headset, the HP Reverb might be the only upgrade in that regard, which makes me think it might depend on the title you're playing 🤔 Or, the text is just too small.
I have a similar problem. Text is clear 90hz but fuzzy at 144hz. I opened up a ticket with steam support to look into. I'd suggest you do the same.
Also yes, if you wear glasses you should still be wearing your glasses in VR, and eye strain is likely due to incorrect IPD or glasses not being worn.
That's often true, but not always the case.
The Index (like all VR) is designed to a fixed focal distance. Most are set to someplace between 4 feet and infinite focal distance. Meaning each single eye focuses on a virtual screen that's 4 feet away, or further.
So if you use glasses but are farsighted, or if your vision 4 feet away isn't all that bad, then odds are you will not need the glasses in VR.
As well, most VR sets are not all that great pixel density wise. The resolution is spread out over the full field of view. So it's in the ballpark of looking at a 6 foot wide 1080p screen 4 feet from your face.
So many people with a light glasses RX like me, literally do not need to wear them in VR at all.
