Index headset ‘out of stock’?
It’s been that way for awhile. Any one know what’s going on?

Rumours going around Index 2, maybe they don´t want to build large stocks at the moment if a new headset is coming soon? Base stations are also hard to get.

I would also like to know. Complete package and combo with controllers has always been in stock... but only need the headset

I'm debating with myself whether to purchase vive pro 2.
it would be nice if they could announce an estimated release date so I'll know if I should wait

Yeah dangit, wish I had a Vive Pro 2.

why would you even buy the index how is this even a debate out of the two.. welcome you are obviously new to VR, only those who are new to vr and not smart buy the garbage index
I think you misunderstood

I mean I already have the index for 2 years, which I love.
I'm thinking either upgrading right now to vive pro 2.
or waiting for INDEX 2 (as in second generation)

@devistation I heard that that the Vive Pro 2 is made for bunnies and not for gaming.
I have the Pimix 8K+ that will run both my Oculus software and Steam VR. I do not use my Rift S because you need a Facebook account know. Have you heard about the Pimix headset?
Coffee Break Hero Aug 14, 2021 @ 9:14am
lol and here I was thinking I have "high end" because I own an index
Coffee Break Hero Aug 14, 2021 @ 10:10am
it's not my first headset. I had a rift before.
I have thousands of hours in VR.
stop being so condescending.

I agree valve's quality control with the controllers was very awful, and the glare is bad.
I still think it's a good headset

from reviews I see vive pro 2 has a lot of glare too though

keep in mind you have a lot more money than I do

While it's fun to see you go on a crusade against the Valve Index, Devistation, it's starting to get out of hand 😋 If the Index is trash and always out of stock compared to the brilliant availability and service of Vive, how come Vive are not market leaders?

Current SteamVR hardware statistics referenced from here for July 2021:
  • Valve Index HMD: 16.23%
  • HTC Vive: 10.37%
  • HTC Vive Pro: 1.99%
  • HTC Vive Cosmos: 1.78%
  • HTC Vive Pro 2: 0.34%
  • HTC Vive Elite: 0.08%
And if you think Valve are spoofing the numbers, why then are the two leading headsets both from Facebook? 🤣

Can you rate all of the VR headsets you have in terms of overall experience from best to worst with a small comment for each? I'm very curious to know your thoughts

Missed that rift part my bad, RIFT S?? or normal RIFT, if "RIFT S" then cool!, I've experienced no issues with the VIVE PRO 2, especially glare. I've barely experienced any, seems fantastic to me. Glare and godrays can usually be fixed either game side, or by depending on how well you wear the headset e.t.c and screens,

I mean as you said "I do have a lot more money" and have been using VR for probably longer than you (not showing off) just saying longer one uses something or has done something means more experience, At the end of the day I'd suggest getting the "VIVE PRO 2", especially as index was just basically lies and just hype as stated nobody in my case or smart or has real vr experience actually bothered with the index and only brought controllers.

No wireless ever came, that modifications and claims that they'd bring addtions to the index for that front box gap place holder never came, the quality is crap e.t.c and the lack of amazon apperance.. yeah, everything valve has ever made has died, valve made game controllers = died, they made a computer = died, steam os = died, big screen = died, that tv adapter = died, now they made a headset = crap, now they are making a portable console = more than likely will DIE,

Before I get called out for being a VIVE FAN BOY, yes I am a VIVE fan boy, i'm not denying it, i'm also extremely smart and have common sense in what to buy when comes to VR... and not hop on some band wagon group with very little sense... I've got PIMAX and VIVE headsets, I've also got a quest 2, and a headset for my mobile phone for mobile vr gaming.

Cut to the chase, my recommendations, get a VIVE PRO 2, save up extra cash and if you've not got them already get full-body tracking, or wireless for your vive, and try make a good vr setup, once your set, you wont need to upgrade again for like 10 years or so.. don't hop on the "INDEX 2" wagon if one is ever released, wait a year or 2 and see real reviews not these pathetic million sub youtubers e.t.c or paid youtubers e.t.c or sponsored..

WAIT TILL ACTUAL CONSUMER REVIEWS start flying in! People like you and me!
as I've said, I actually own the index... so I know first hand you're wrong.
It is really good in almost every way except that god awful glare (which I only notice in certain situations anyway), and the joysticks on the controllers.

Well considering the rulers still have much of the world in Lock down it's impossible to say whether it's out of stock because they can't get supplies to make them or if it's because they plan to discontinue it. Add me to the camp hoping they are working on a better version though. OLED model with built in tracking so base stations are an optional add on would be nice.

Some news reports state that shipping will be getting worse this fall just before the holiday shopping. So maybe they can not get the parts they need to make more headsets.

As willing to believe you as I am, I can't help but notice your condescending attitude and your narcissism. I see you have done some research but are you sure there was no bias in your research?
