Glue around lense coming loose

Recently I noticed something like glue is sticking out on the lense from the rubber that wraps around it. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I contacted valve but because my headset is out of warranty they basically said good luck and didn’t offer any advice or explanation of what it is or how serious. They didn’t even suggest a replacement part. Very poor.

its more of hold the rubber to the lens, its safe to remove if it gets bothersome however i think its more for keeping dust out

got humidity issues since i lost the glue on one side . take a while to dry out

I have read that it happens to them all and it's not a huge deal to remove the excess... that said my glue has yet to fail. The dust on the lenses, on the other hand...
