Index Display Not Working and Blue Lights On
Hi! I got my Index yesterday and ever since then it has not worked. My issue is that I have it plugged in correctly, with all ports working fine. My headset is picked up my steam VR, my headset is tracked in games, and the blue lights on my headset light up, but no display or audio! I have been trying relentleslly for the last 2 days for hours at a time to no avail.I have reseated the connections on the headset, the cable, and my computer with no signs of improvement. I have done everything that is recommends on the troubleshooting, and even did the things steam support recommended and nothing has worked and I have no idea what to do. Especially considering I just waited 13+ weeks for this thing and dropped 1000 dollars just for it to not even work. It has been a serious let down. If there is anyway I can provide relevant information to help please let me know. My GPU is a Radeon R9 200 Series. I know that display port works fine because I have had my monitor plugged into it for over a year now. And I have swapped them back and forth and monitor always works fine. My computer also recognizes the headphones whenever I start SteamVR but still no sound or anything. Any information or tips you could provide would help immensly. I just wanna play some H3VR.

I have exactly the same problem. I got my index and set it up. I got to play 10 mins of my first game before the display went black and it flashed my headset wasn't connected. The game was still running and the headset was still tracking.

I attempted to restart my computer and SteamVR thinking it was buggy but the HMD display has never turned on since. I get the blue standby lights when I plug it in but when I start SteamVR, the lights go solid red and I get the error message.

I have tried everything to fix it. Updated drivers on everything I can update. I've tried moving all the connections and resetting them. I've uninstalled Steam and SteamVR with no luck.

I created a ticket but have only gotten two responses on the first day. The first was generic and only had basic troubleshooting that I've already done. The second response, they asked for a system report which I provided. It has been silence ever since.

That's when I found out how crappy the support options are. There is no number, website, or email contact. We are stuck waiting on replies in Steam Support which is notoriously bad.

My issue was that even though my graphics card met the requirements, it wasn't supported driver wise. Something along those lines. So I ended up spending 3 days with Steam support trying to find how to make it work just for them to tell me "Oh your GPU isnt compatible :)" . So I ended up dropping 400 for a new GPU after just spending 1000 for the set. Really turned off by the whole ordeal.

BUT TO EVERYONE READING THIS, THE RADEON R9 200 SERIES IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE INDEX DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME

One the bright side however, I absolutely love my Index and is one of the best purchases I have made. Just cause Steam Support is very lacking, doesn't mean the headset was bad. Nothing but good things to say.

I have tried everything and have been through everything steam support suggest 1000 times. I am nearly 100% positive now that it's the cable that's at fault. I have found a few post from people with the same problem and it was solved with a new cable.
I guess now it's a waiting game getting a response from support.

Just a tip, avoid AMD.
I love AMD, but I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate AMD and how its not compatible with anything.
It sucks with Blender, and it sucks even more with VR.
AMD CPUs are nice, but forget the GPUs. I dont even know why you would bother anymore after all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you have to deal with regarding incompatibility. The only nice thing is the built in recording software, and replay abilities. Which are really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nice to have, but also finicky in themselves.

Yeah the issue I had was entirely my graphics card. It was so incompatible the index just wouldn't work. My advice regarding cables, is ensuring it stays seated as much as possible. I regularly make sure it's fully seated if I have any issues.

For me it was fpsVR. Uninstalled it and everything started working

its not my cables and its not my 3090 , the cables are fine and the 3090 is compatible , its a software issue . its either a graphics driver issue of steam vr issue , they bricked my valve indexs not long ago and hotfixed it , but another update broke what they fixed

Have this same damn issue. I've uninstalled steam vr about 10 times, ordered a new cable, Verified the video driver is up to date, Verified that my motherboard is up to date(bios and usb drivers), did all the rebooting in between and USB driver troubleshooting (disabled power management and removed all steam vr usb device drivers), and every time I update the headset for this "wireless software" it ♥♥♥♥'s the bed with a stable blue light and stops detecting completely. Its crap I can't get this to work. I am either at Nuke my W11 install or try it with a different headset to see if mine is defective. I'm planning to get a new SSD soon so I could test on a fresh install of windows for kicks and giggles. We'll see if I have to wait that long.

Weirdest part is that I get visual when I disable direct display mode and have it function as a second monitor. So its gotta be some USB issue right? I even unplugged EVERY usb device and used a damn ps2 keyboard to navigate and this ♥♥♥♥ fails. I have no clue what else to try. Sent headset for repair???

Same issue here (RTX 4070 Ti Super). Blue leds and only display through Direct Mode. Camera works. Tried the following:
- Multiple USB ports
- Reinstalled Windows
- Clean reinstalled Nvidia drivers
- Updated motherboard BIOS
- Reinstalled SteamVR multiple times
- Used the remove all SteamVR USB devices option
- Disabled core isolation and memory integrity
It works flawlessly with same cable, controllers and base stations on my old PC, so it has to be a software issue. Steam support told me to go to a local PC expert to troubleshoot lmao

Anybody still having this issue? I figured out a simple way to fix it. And nobody else seems to talk about it!
