What are the lenses made of?
Are the Index lenses polycarb, Acrylic or glass? Does anyone know? I had a Cosmos (It was great and in some aspects better than the Index) but I scratched the lenses pretty quickly through constant cleaning as they were one of the clear plastics. I have not cleaned my new Index lenses yet after 4 months. I'm too scared that I will scratch the lenses unless they are glass then they would be fine.

They are, by wide reports, VERY delicate and scratch easily. Also, the silicone shroud around the lens housings peels up very easily, allowing sweat and any other moisture to penetrate and contaminate the Fresnel lenses.

You need to clean them, but you MUST be careful! Water and very little mild soap should be your last resort, after a microfiber cloth. Good luck!

Thanks for thge info. I would still like to know what materiel they are made from. I'm a plastics toolmaker by trade. Acrylic is clear plastic so is polycarb It would be better if the lenses were glass. I have not cleaned my lenses yet, Havent had the need to as they are fine.

Optical grade Jell-O, I think.

I'm not sure why they keep refusing to release glass lenses, especially as the price of these HMDs just keeps going up. You still have ultra-soft Fresnels and cheap foam facial padding practically mandating a third-party cover to keep it from getting absolutely gross.
