Drivers not downloading?

So I've got my valve index and i had to reinstall the drivers of the headset (because i was having some problems) and now when i plug the headset into the PC it doesn't reinstall the drivers, I know the ports works (I only have 1 USB3) and when I plug it in i hear the device connected sound but it doesn't seem to download the drivers. I've tried to unplug and replug everything multiple times and I've restarted my computer probably 100 times. Thank you for any help you give!

whats the problem? i dont think windows update has drivers for the index.
did you uninstall steamvr?

I've tried to reinstall steam VR a couple of times, when I plug in the Valve index it's supposed to put the sound drivers on kind of like any other pair of headphones / microphone you use, and you should be able to go switch the default to anything, when i plug in my headset nothing like that gets connected. When i would plug in my headset it would even pop up on discord saying "New audio device found" and now it doesn't do that anymore. Also it would pop up in the tray and i was able to "eject device" and now nothing like that pops up. I know my USB3 port works, I've plugged other things in it to test.

This whole thing is confusing me and I'm probably explaining this poorly, Thank you for any help you can give

At this point i might go see if the headset works on a family members computer, if it does? should i just try to reinstall windows 10?

Works on my brothers PC, so clearly its a me problem. 😢

wait a sec, going to need you to clarify the actual issue.
are you able to use the speakers in a VR game? or are you saying when you are in a game there is no sound because its not being installed?

i dont think the speakers are supposed to work without the display activated by steamVR.

i think the usb is for the microphone/camera camera also if its a usb 3.0 port, if its usb 2.0 microphone only, no camera support
