How to Connect to TV?
I have not used my Index yet (due to not having a powerful PC), so I haven't tried connecting it yet. I would like to connect it to my TV so other people can watch. My TV only supports HDMI, and I see that the Index uses Display Port.

To connect it to my tv, am I going to need to buy a Display Port to HDMI converter, or will I connect the Index to my computer and then run an HDMI from my computer to tv?

Any info is appreciated

You don't connect your TV to the Index. You connect your Index to your GPU, then connect your TV to your GPU using HDMI. It's literally that simple.

In other words, connect your TV to your PC as though it were a monitor, it might also be possible to stream the footage to a TV through steamlink or maybe the nvidia shield.

The TV is a monitor. Connect it to the PC like you would connect a regular one. SteamVR has an option to show everything on the monitor.

I use steam link to connect to the tv, if you have one.

Replace your monitor with your TV by connecting your HDMI cable from your GPU to your TV instead of a monitor.

HDMI cable too short? Get a longer one. Modern problems require modern solutions. Using a Steam Link or any sort of streaming service is dumb, why not add more software to bloat the load and network, what could possibly go wrong? Oh it doesn't work because neither product was designed to do this? Better make a Steam Support ticket.

Save yourself and Steam Support's time and just connect your TV like a monitor. Connecting your VR headset to your TV will only help you succeed in looking like an out-of-touch geriatric trying to charge their laptop with their phone charger.
