Error: Unknown Error when trying to play multiplayer?

I played one multiplayer game earlier and then got off to make my framerate higher with the launch setting /fixedrate 240 and ever since I did that I get an error. Not sure if thats related or not to my problem but Ive restarted my computer and game and nothing works. Any idea what it could be?

No I clicked the multiplayer option in the main menu and it would give me that. Although it did go away but it seems that I cant use my launch setting for 240 frames, I have to play capped at 60

I have been having the same problem, but I haven't changed any settings. I only just downloaded the game. It has said Error: Unknown Error and Error: Not Signed In when I click on Galactic Multiplayer.

I cant say what fixed it but there were times where I didnt have the launch setting on and it wouldnt work either. I went to profile management and tried signing again a couple times and restarted the game too. Try restarting your PC maybe? I verified my files at one point too but they were all there

**EDIT**
I fixed it somehow. I cant tell what exactly did the magic but here are the steps I did to fix it:
- Right Click on SWBF Steam App -> Props -> Language
- Switched from German to English.
- Started the Game
- Logged in using my default profile ingame...
- Returned to Profile Management
- Created a New Profile
- Retured Again to Profile Management
- Switched back to my Default Profile
- Done

Hello everyone
I had a same problem. Unfortunately your ways not helpful. So I had to can find another solution.

C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Battlefront (Classic 2004)\GameData\SaveGames

Delete this folder. Problem was in savegames. Folder with savegames on your PC may be in another place.

After that just play.

The login error also happens to me, every time I try to enter multiplayer, so I have to restart the game at least 2 times when it happens to me or only 1 time

I don't know the origin of this error but it started after the update they did on October 1, 2020 or that's what I think

I too having same problem. this has just started. i never ever got this message until now. Are they seriously shutting this online down or is there serious unknown issues that can't be fixed.?

Try CaptainPrice's solution, that might help. I only got this error when using the launch command so I have to disable it when I play online. I cant verify if his solution worked but it worked for him so its worth a try

I get the same problem and often it says "not signed in" instead of "unkown error". I tried captain prices solution but no results

Simply just validate your game. pretty easy to do and you can play online again.
