Does the GoG version have gamepad support?
Totally asking for a friend.

It should because this version does.

The Steam version doesn't.

Did you manually assign each button? Did you connect your controller before starting the game?
Greggs May 2, 2019 @ 3:32pm
Yes. Battlefront has what is called partial support. That means it will recognize a gamepad, but like you said, you have to map each button individually, and you also cannot assign one button to multiple actions. Like rolling for instance, which you could do on the PS2 version of Battlefront II by double tapping O. You can't do that on the Steam version.

Trying to map out everything so it made sense on Battlefront II was a pain and I don't want to put up with it again. That's why I'm here.

I feel like you'll have better luck posting this on reddit or on something gog specific, I doubt many people here browsing the steam forums own the game on gog

I have tried both the Steam release and the GOG release with the same results. I am unable to configure the game to use my game controllers. The game does not recognize any inputs from the controller in the configuration screen. I have tested this with a Logitech Dual Action and a Logitech F310 game controllers. I have also tested on two different Windows 7 x64 systems with the same result.
I have successfully configured and used these controllers with the PC DVD-ROM version of the game. This issue is unique to the current release.

Maybe you can submit a support ticket somewhere for that issue?

I did submit a report to GOG support. I tried to submit a report to Steam, but they said it's not their problem and directed me to Lucas Arts and Pandemic. Yeah, good luck with that.

Haha that is surprising. I suppose you are at their mercy at this point.

You might could use xpadder though

With BigPicture you can create and share your own gamepad configurations.

Like EvathCebor said, use Steam integrated controller configuration. It's pretty much Xpadder build-in in Steam. You don't need to go to big picture. just make sure your gamepad in connected, select the game on your library and in the right list menu (the one with the links to the community hub, news and so on) at the end, you will see the controller configuration.
There you can map the keyboard to the controller, or bypass some of the game limitations (like multiple functions in one button).

I would suggest just opening the game up in Big Picture Mode and then saving the controller config on there. I played the game with a controller just now and while you can play the game with a gamepad you will need to adjust a number of things. I played the PS2 version of the game and in it there was aim assist which I liked, here there is none of that and when I tried to use a controller it did become somewhat difficult and I had to turn down the aim sensitivity because of it.

But ya just open up Steam in Big Picture mode go the games controller config section, since it's still a "new" game there are only 2 options. I used the WASD + Mouse setting and I was able to get by okay in the game.

I didn't said right click menu.
First, use the detail view in the library and select the game. Then look at the right list of options, where you have links to community hub and another stuff. The last one will be controller settings.
