mixed score is accurate in my opinion
1) Buy a game.
2) Play it for 110 minutes.
3) Give an illiterate and uneducated hate review.
4) Refund game.
5) Repeat 1-4 for next game.
Objectively, Wolf3D.
Graphics - 0
Story - 0

Gameplay - 10
During Wolf3Ds time, gameplay was the only thing that mattered.
Hard to say what one is worst, because it goes back so far, and the criteria for judging a game is drastically different now. However, based on todays criteria for what makes a game good or bad, Wolf3D takes that hands down.
Still, there's also plenty of legitimate criticism that shouldn't be ignored just because there's a high number of haters.
acutually, in the day of wolf3D that game was one of the best looking games.....
I dont buy many new games anymore because most are horrible. THis one? its worth it IMO. I havent seen any way that this game doesnt deliver.
I agree lol But TODAY, its totally the worst one.
Thats what I meant by hard to say and criteria being different. Absolutely no argument that during its time, it was a great game. If I remember correctly, its also one of the earliest if not THE earliest that supported mouse control for look direction.
The political correctness doesn't seem too strong. Except that they called them "Terroristinnen". That's German for female terrorists. No one actually says that. But then I guess I should be grateful the Nazis didn't ask them for their individually preferred pronouns. I haven't even finished the first level though. I'm planing to play the whole game coop with a friend.
Which brings me to the main issue. I actually feel embarrassed to offer my buddy pass to him. The game feels way to claustrophobic even with g_fov 110. The sneaking is insultingly easy, because of the cloak feature. The enemies have health bars over their heads which you can only turn off if you disable the hud completely. You have to collect coins to unlock stuff, and the weapons upgrade screen also seems unintuitive to me. When you are on a comptuer and want back to the game, you have to press ESC, which means I have to twist my hand to reach up there. All these little things add up. Luckily he hasn't played the other Wolfensteins, so he won't be disappointed by the rehash of the old songs. I was though. The double jump platform section (also in the first level) didn't inspire confidence either. The worst thing though is that you can't disable toggle crouch. I know we have the console peasants to thank for that, but if it's possible to disable toggle sprint, I think a hold crouch option should also be doable.
Anyway, all that makes the game into a chore. Now I'll suffer through it, because as I said I'm interested in the story, but anyone who isn't should stay away. I just hope my friend has the stomach to play through it with me, because I'm definitely not playing this with the ai.
I rated New Order as out of this world good. Played it three times in a row - and I never do that. I finish a game and I'm done. But New Order is so amazing. Old Blood is also great. The story is also good, but not on the TNO level. New Colossus I didn't buy, because the SJWness was too thick even for me. Maybe I'll get it when it's really really cheap. I'll be more careful with future Wolfenstein titles, because I see a pattern emerging here. Gameplay is tailored for the console peasants and the story is made to appease the social justice warriors.
Well, since I haven't really played Youngblood that much yet, I'm still hoping that the story turns out to be amazing. From what I've heard that's unlikely though. I'll get back to you.
