Is it even fun for solo play?

I have zero friends and remember how awful my L4D2 experience in co-op (not versus) was with random dudes or with mediocre bots. Same applies for PayDay 2 and alike. People either rush like their life depends on it, never care for the story, never stop to look for an easter egg, etc.
So, is Youngblood got a decent story for a single play or you are stuck with braindead AI companion for the sake of it?




P.S. Sick of tired of co-op only games. If you want to do it, do it like in Portal 2 with a decent story and co-op on top of that. And it only gets worse as kids demand online mode even in games like Subnautica or Rimworld.

I'm totally skipping this game because of all the games that I played before that was made for coop was not interesting.
Also, because the second game was really boring my expectations for that one are really low.

There was an AI companion in New Colossus, I believe, and that worked fine.

I'm yet to play it. But there is a difference between AI companion in a SP game like Half-Life 2 or Metro: Last Light or worthless placeholder AI like in PayDay 2. First one is fine, the second one is just meh. Like good luck doing solo heists with AI.

It's out, I've had a lot of fun so far in single player. I do have the gripe that it's made for coop so you can't seem to properly pause in single.

Read the reviews. AI companion is not helpful, it's making the game harder. I also don't like at all these rpg elements in a game, and don't even make me start on microtransactions.

It's a weird spin off that I hope will stay just a weird spin off and not a prophecy of how gameplay will look like in the next non-spin offy game.

If you really want to play in it, wait for a sale(I'll bet this game is going to have some sale in the next month or two at best). Maybe they will fix how AI works for single players up until this time, otherwise without someone to do co-op with, don't bother.
