since RTX update, game crashes everytime
DLSS and RTX look great for the moments I am able to see them, before the game crashes. I have 2070super, I did the benchmark 2 times and both I'm getting 100fps on mein leben with ray tracing and dlss on, but it crashes everytime I play it. pc restarting, etc, nothing helps. I even turned off dlss and fps drops a little, allows me to play for maybe 2 minutes longer until crash again. Anyone else? They need an update for the update ya?

Did you update to the CES driver? Have to verified the game cache?

I also have the problem that it freezes and sometimes get a blue screen message or the win_crashDmp_enable 1 message.

Then I removed the intro when starting that the intro does not always come, I had the console as a message the first time. It's a shame that you can't send it to the developers and the other session just closed the game without a message.

Got a 2080 RTX from Gigabyte with 32 GB RAM and Ryzen 2700X

I'm crashing as well. It more feels like the game stops responding to mouse and keyboard inputs then a true "software crash". For example, the NPC's in the catacombs keep talking to each other, and doing their usual animations / movements, but i cant walk or turn or get to menus or whatever. One 'crash' i was walking forward, so it kept me running forward until i hit a wall at the end of one of the tunnels. This is why i think it wasn't a true "crash", as i was sort of auto running until i ran into the wall.

I'm playing with RTX turned on, but no DLSS, since i'm getting 75-95 FPS usually (1440p), with most settings turned up all the way. I'll try DLSS eventually, but I wanted to see how the game ran before turning it on, since that is an option.

The game seems to run a bit longer when i turn my overclock down, before it eventually freezes up.

Drop shadows down to Ultra. That's the setting that was causing a crash for me.

No problems here: 9900KS & RTX 2080TI played the first two levels.

I found out that they were doing the RTX update because I downloaded the newest/latest drivers from geforce experience. New addition, I did a windows update (someone else suggested somewhere else) and now I can play the game for maybe 10 minutes before it still does the same crash. However, since doing that, dlss is no longer an option to turn on. It says in the menu "dlss disabled due to NAS", I have no idea what that means. I'm rank 270 and still love playing the game and was mega excited for the rtx update (and i am happy with it's outcome, appearance wise) I just want to be able to play for half hour or more to do daily's and weekly things. Still hoping this is a common thing and they add an update to fix it.

* EDIT * NAS is NVidia Adaptive Shading (option maybe 5 below dlss). According to the video and description from Geforce Experience newest drivers (for this game specifically), the DLSS is supposed to make running ray tracing smoother. Testing it now. I also made shadows to ultra like (ironic name to the fix) Shadowboy813 suggested.

^^^^^ I don't know if it was a combination of those, or just one specific thing, but this fixed it completely. Just did a full replay, completed 3 missions, and played for over a half hour. I have DLSS on and at Quality. Turned shadows to Ultra. Turned NVidia Adaptive Shading to off so I could use DLSS. Game ran beautifully at 90-100 fps. Only thing I noticed different in game play is rtx seems to make the girls movements (including mouse turn) "heavier" , if that makes sense. So i had to turn up horizontal and vertical sensitivities higher and the mouse speed at bottom higher too. Either way, I'm finally super happy with the game!!!

or maybe not, lol. Was able to play over half hour yesterday, today it did full game exit crash with the "crash dump" message after maybe 10 minutes of play. IDK :-(

Yeah, the crashing has been more frequent with me, too. My most recent successful session (a couple hours long) was after turning off async compute (which was a setting that caused problems with Nvidia GPUs in Wolfenstein II). A lot of the issues I've had with both TNC and Youngblood mirror the problems I had with the Vulkan patch of Doom 2016 (which it has since fixed). It seems as though these games are running on an early fork of the vulkan-based idtech6 engine.

I'm very disappointed with Machine Games' handling of idtech6. Both TNC and Youngblood have been problematic (and why I gave both a negative review on steam, in spite of giving The New Order glowing praise--Old Blood, too).

My trouble is that the FPS plunges to less than 24 frames when running the game with GTX1660ti after the ray tracing update.
shadowboy813 Jan 20, 2020 @ 12:53am
I think the problem is either raytraced reflections or DLSS. I turned both off and I don't get any crashing anymore. It's been rock solid stable for a couple days now. I may try turning on DLSS or raytraced reflections individually to try to narrow it down.

After a crash corrupted my profile (and then sync'd the corrupted profile to steam cloud), I had to start over. I made it from about level 10 (where I was when I turned off DLSS and raytracing) to 27 without any crashing.
