video driver memory
I get a message saying my video driver doesn't have enough dedicated memory and the game returns to the opening menu. I currently have windows 10 64 bit, 16gb installed ram, intel core i7-7700hq cpu @ 2.80ghz and the nvidia graphics driver 431.60.

Video driver memory relates to the graphics card dedicated ram if Im not mistaken, so nothing to do with your CPU or main Ram. What you GPU like? Its the one thing you didnt mention and probably the problem here.
My guess is your laptop has made your integrated graphics default. They use RAM as they don't have dedicated memory. Or you don't have a graphic card at all.

I was on the dedicated graphics setting, but changed that to the gtx 1050 card that I had. However, when I applied the changes and restarted the system I still got the message "video driver has run out of dedicated video memory."

Does your GTX 1050 have 4GB of ram?

GTX 1050 has 2gb of vram. Only the ti model has 4gb. 2gb of vram is just not enough these days

You might *just* get away with 2Gb on a fresh windows reboot with no other apps open (chrome tabs suck up a lot of vram). Then set advanced video settings in the game to the lowest possible. From what I've seen, the game needs around 3Gb video ram minimum though on most levels (you can check how much is being used with the "metrics" option in the advanced video settings). So, you might be out of luck with that card unfortunately.

How to disable this message?

Lower the game texture quality settings so that your videocard doesn't run out video memory.

I have RTX 2070, and even I get this hell when I start the game, my VRAM goes to 8032mb. In the freaking Menu

I get a memory error with RTX 2080 and 8GB VRAM, after playing a while. It says my graphics card has run out of dedicated memory and i should lower settings. I am running very high settings, but they are settings that give me max fps my monitor can handle. I think they just have a memory leak somewhere in the driver or game. Hope they fix it soon.

great, I got this one via ms store (thought it was steam) works big time on machine A, with a 1050 ti 4gb card, but my other machine, "running out of memory" freeze ups, etc. (also, can't fit a large dual fan card, since there are objects on the mobo that may interfere)
