Can I abort the final boss fight?
So my friend and I got to the Lothar mission, but he's kicking our collective behinds. So we wanted to bounce out and go collect more silver and experience to make the fight a little more doable...

but I can't figure out how to get out of the fight. Is there a way to abort the fight and go back to the other parts of the game? So far, I can't seem to find a way, other than to join someone else's game.

There is no way to abort that level. You are stuck until you complete it. This issue has been noted in a few reviews of the game already.

What level are you guys at? I went in around level 45 and had an easy time (though, I did upgrade my items to me mostly damage and had most of my perks unlocked.)

The real question is what difficulty are you playing on? I did it the first time at lvl 43 on normal and it was a literaly cake walk at that point. I want to play through on hard and see the difference

I'm playing on Challenging and there is no way I'm grinding in a Wolfenstein game just to beat a boss. So I'll lower the difficulty.

Once you're in the final battle, you won't be able to leave or backtrack until you've killed Lothar or get teleported back to the Catacombs. As a way to complete this fight, you could join another player's game or have a higher level player help you out.

So what I've heard, they scale up per player. No offense but did you guys playtested the last boss on challenging difficulty?

I was Level 34 and the enemies weren't much higher, but Lothar just shredded me. The incoming missles were out of control and no way to singlehandly dodge that. I had to stay between the door and elevator to keep my AI companion actually ALIVE beacuse she died every second and I had about 10 seconds? to get her up, otherwise I would have to restart the boss. Also the first phase, I had to shoot the backpack obviously, but it is kind of hard if either the AI does only focus me or literally walks after me so I can't shoot it in the back. I get the game was designed to play in co-op, but consider the next game to make it.. optional to have a companion?

What are your options if you play the game alone, as a single player?

I did It on level 34 alone use the god key and #2 and #3 weapons with heavy ammo and run in circle around him. if need to revive sis go invisible. I kill him the first try :super:

Tough luck, that's the problem..

Thanks.

My friend and I were around level 40, with our guns modded for accuracy. We're going to do another runthrough, and I'll mod for damage to see what happens...

After spending some time doing other things, we finally came back at level 45 - and we took him out.

I think the problem is that Lothar's minimum level is just a bit too high for players below 30 or so. The game either needs to gate the content and prevent the player from going in, or it needs to scale Lothar better. Regardless, the player really deserves a warning before being put in a situation where he literally cannot leave until the boss is dead.

Wrong! You need to fix this! If people are playing solo, they shouldn't be penalize because you made it a co op mission. Also you need to add better check point saves. Don't tell people to suck it up.

I played the last boss single player at level 35 [edit -- closer to level 40. I forget.] and it took me a few dozen tries before I lowered the difficulty down to normal and finally beat him after several tries of that. Definitely felt like I was being punished for playing single player, but as a dark souls fan I don't mind when a game tries to ruin my whole weekend. It took me 9 hours to get to the last boss then another 6 to kill him. But all the new Wolfenstein games are like that. Challenging but doable until the last boss (especially the Old Blood) and then all of a sudden it just feels like you're doing something wrong. So even though I wish Lothar was easier, or at least didn't require you to shoot him in the jetpack, it is definitely part of this franchise to have weirdly frustrating last boss challenges. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Wrong? You mean you can't get good in a video game so it's the developers fault? Maybe they should sell p2w consumables for you guys.

Your overlords plan on doing just that ,shill, take a look at the gold bars on the steam page and read the description what they can buy. The classic git gud doesn't apply here Mr fan boy as the game design is flawed by letting you enter a boss arena when underleveled then not giving you any option to leave. They have acknowledged this and have amitted it was a oversight on their end , it's in the known issues section .

It is a matter of getting good
If people even bothered to realize what kind of damage he's weak to.
But no.. people can't figure out basic mechanics so it's the devs fault for players being bad at the game, and this has nothing to do with being a high or low character its what kind of weapon/attachments you use that make the fight easy or hard.
