Quick check on game progress
Have been stopped playing since like, the level cap is 80 or 85, finished the story part and got nothing to do, so I quit and uninstalled the game.

Months past, I was hoping there are new additions to the game - like new maps, new story progress?? Never bothered watching their so called "update videos", which is just advertisement for more cash items, anyway.

If the answer is a big "NO", then maybe Sega should consider stopping development (which is currently like, non-existence) for this game and spend their resources on other things, like PSO3 (HAHAHAHAHAHA) or some offline Phantasy Star games. since it's clear Sega don't have the capacity to keep this game alive and interesting.

P/S: How long is it since the release of Stia map?? When will we see the next continent / island? Is the writer ran out of brain juice to progress the story? Come on, Sega, just close the guddam story already so we can have a closure.

They stopped development on new regions and returned to old PSO2 instanced zones, Leciel 2 years ago and Nameless city last year.

I havent not played for the story, but so far from what I read the story is getting connected to PSO2 with references to NPCs in PSO2 because 1000 years had passed. Some players get a unique cut-scenes if they finished classic PSO2 story.

Updates are going slower in 2025 from monthly to bi-monthly, or just read the community favorite topics here doomposting for the last 4 years.

PSO2 has always been selling gacha cosmetics since 2012. It was Hatsune Miku and Persona cosmetics which made PSO2 rose in popularity in 2013 era which kept the game alive and interesting when it was mocked as a Monster Hunter clone.

If there is one complaint I need to stress is Sega North America is getting the influencer, MMObyte, to advertise their game. Just like in PSO2 Japan where they sponsor vtubers, Sega North America should be getting American or European ANIME vtubers that speak english to advertise their ANIME game.

Oh that's sad to hear, but no surprise...

Hmm, what unique cut scene are you referring to? I did finished the Classic story, and imported my character from Classic. Later on I started a brand new character and the cut scenes are the same as my imported character.
I have not finished classic PSO2, nor have I done the lastest story in NGS. Unless the game requires me to do it. I am not the best person to spoil you the story of NGS and classic PSO2.

But from what people say in the NGS story spoilers, we initially were told that we might supposedly be a "clone" of the original protagonist in the classic PSO2. In the latest story updates, it is revealed that we are the original protagonist when we regained our memories. Another original Arks from 1000 years ago seem to be the real antagonist in NGS.

In the 2025 roadmap there seem to be a boss monster for the August 2025 Update that has a silhouette of Evil Matoi.

Hmm... If that's the case, may be I have not played that part of the story with my imported character, I played through that part of the story with my new character only.

Now I have to seriously pondering on the idea of loading up my imported character (who is maybe like, level 30+) and play through the story to see if there are any difference in the cut scene.

You still get sizable zones like Leciel and Nameless City and updates to the old fields, just no more explicit open world fields (this was not officially stated, just something deducted from the shift away from field content after Stia). The players expressed their dislike of the open world so Sega went back to instances, that's all.

Updates have always been presented in bi-monthly columns on the new roadmap format. This was the one from last year:

https://www.bumped.org/phantasy/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2024-Roadmap-1-1024x576.jpg

Aside from the missing TAC month, the rest of the 2025 roadmap is similar in terms of content.

https://www.bumped.org/phantasy/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/2025-Roadmap-1024x576.jpg

The finale to the current story is dropping next month, and then the game just continues on. The doomboys have been scrambling for a new narrative since that headline, but it doesn't look like this game is going to close down anytime soon. Especially not in JP considering what transpired last year.

As someone who also gave the game another chance i am confident in saying :" Oh Hell NO."

I didnt play since Level Cap was 75 so i had a longer hiatus then you so imagine how i felt when all Sega could muster in terms of story in that time periode was literally done in 1 day. Still just 1 concert. Season Pass has no SG anymore. Still the same Season Point "event".....it should possible to sue Sega for calling a by now key feature of the game "event."

I mean i could go on nd on but the result is i de.installed the game again after like 9 days.

Just wanna add that the Mission Pass SG reward was exclusive to Global PSO2. It was never their intent to refund the player's SG because JP never got it, and they might as well just make the Gold tier free in that case.

Season pass has never dropped SG since NGS launched. SG has always been gained from just playing the game, weekly give aways, codes, doing events, and convoluted mess of converting various resources like Ex-Cubes into SG. Or to put it just by being active you gain SG.

You can even get more SG in NGS just by playing classic PSO2.

Yes it did thats the reason why people called the "Gold Pass" Free because those SG exactly had the amount said Gold Pass costs.

There has never been SG part of the Mission Pass in NGS.

We always had spare SG because when you were an active player, you were easily getting SG just by playing and even just by logging-in to receive maintenance compensation mail.

That was PSO2's mission pass, NGS never gave out SG. Another thing NGS downgraded.

The original PSO2 Mission Pass never gave out SG either. This shouldn't have to be said, but Global is not the center of the world. You are not going to get permanent, exclusive special treatment. Another item on Sega's long list of mistakes when it comes to the handling of PSO2's Global version, injecting false hype into their new audience's heads just to lube them up for their next release without considering what might happen once reality catches up.

They are still broken and confused by the crash to this day.

You're so bitter towards anything to do with the global server. Global had the Mission Pass before JP, so the original season pass was actually from global. You remind me of those Anime elitists that attack anybody for watching a dubbed version.

Nobody said global is the center of the world, but facts remain that we did get SG in the Mission Pass on PSO2. Just because JP didn't get it, it doesn't mean we didn't.

Yes, I know Global had Mission Pass SG and already acknowledged that in an earlier post. Original in this context meant base PSO2.

I am not bitter about the Global server as much as I am concerned for its players who take everything that happened during the PSO2 blitz as gospel. This is why you are perpetually bitter and believe things that were always meant to be are a "downgrade".

I am simply pointing out that JP is the template for both versions of the game. If JP is handling a feature a certain way, expect Global to eventually do the same even if the two briefly differed at one point. Especially if it was something that's too good to be true. Fresh Finds was a Global specialty and it is also now dead.

But in this case JP is not the template for both, because Global got the Mission Pass before it was introduced to JP.
