Does NGS have a gameplay loop / core multiplayer gamemode?
After 80 hrs of solo main missions, chatting with random players, and speedrunning training rooms with 3 other guild members. i'm starting to feel like theres no gameplay loop or gameplay reason for Co-Op and its just separate minigames that dont affect each other. Is there a bigger picture goal I'm missing or is that it? And pls dont say "the point is to have fun" or "save the day" i'm talking game design specifics. Thanks!

When theres no events going the loop is usually farm combat sectors for rare drops to power up for urgent quests/purple triggers/pyramid. These days theres also farm leciel exploration to power up to fight dark falz solas. When events are on which is almost always these days you farm the limited quests for its rare drops and points to buy out the seasonal shop. For most people though the reason you engage with the grind is to sell rare drops on the market so you can afford cosmetics, Cosmetics are usually the endgame for most people

grind for days for crap that would be irrelevant two months later, and repeat the cycle until you realise is a waste of time.

no real need to farm for anything considering events give almost max level gear that would be enought to do any content in the game, and the things you cant do just drop more garbage, so just get those and wait until some real content is released, aka another region where you be doing the same crap you have been doing in the last one, "new" re-skinned enemies, with "new" resources to collect, 30 min of "story" and then nothing for another 6 months, enjoy.

and thats pretty much it, beside that you can just empty your bank in gatcha and be social?

Leciel expedition. The challenges change daily and just hard enough for the average player. You aim for Versh, Neo and Octo as well as the growments . The 3 series I mentioned is mainly for enhancing fixa to the max, for my case anyway.

I see bad weather, I tend to warp to combat zones and farm pse bursts. If new gigantix related gear or augments appear, I might go and kill them. Soon the new purple armor series will be available too. Glass canon here I come...

Obviously if you see UQ , you run them. One of the best sources for a lump drop of primm II...

There are records for cocoons, and the towers, ordinal and geolob. Run those to get the best records and rewards. Sega even added a fresh bunch of cosmetics to geolab.

Social, hang out with your alliance... In the end, it's all up to you. What you want to do. You do you, not other people do you to do you (Unless it's a fetish you like). Have fun... it's what's game for. I'm not a nutcase to play game as a job or whatever like the nonsensical play to earn genre or be an actual gold farmer/seller.

No difference from all the other online games, you run same thing ad nauseum until new content or maps are added or just play another game or do other life stuff (bar hopping, get laid, binge watch tv series, etc). Modern warfare, ffxiv, genshit impact, etc ? Same 1 or 2 maps/dungeons run thousands of times, etc.

NGS is pretty casual, just come in and play 15 mins to 1 hour and you'll still be a the forefront of all content. S rank even... If all else, just only do the seasonal stuff.

Thats it.

There is a reason why this is called a " Fashion Simulator." I wouldnt even call NGS an MMO but a Single player game with multiplayer option like Genshin or Tower of Fantasy.

In short, the gameplay loop is currently boiled down to the following:

  • Play the newest content (as of now, if it is not Leciel Exploration, it is the Limited-Time Quests)
  • Get the newest drops
  • Get bigger numbers
  • Wait until the next update for the newest content/drops/even bigger numbers

Many players who are burned out on this or are not interested in bigger numbers ultimately sidetrack to something else such as waiting for the Seasonal Events (they get you numbers close enough to the biggest numbers so your older grind is invalidated) or just play into the game's fashion and cosmetics.

Kinda, sorta. You could argue Leciel exploration, but with the growthment bonus being tied to only 1 clear per day, it makes large farming sessions feel like a waste of time. Having a trade in shops for specific augments would largely fix this problem, but due to their absence your stuck praying for good RNG to get w/e untradeable augments you need. Purple triggers used to serve as co-op content, but the rewards haven't been updated for current content so they're now irrelevant. I guess you could argue UQs, but since you only can run them once when up it's not a ton of content.

*Sigh* the NGS game developers can't seem to decide on what type of game they want it to be. Supposedly it's an MMO or at least an online multiplayer ARPG, and content like UQs and Leciel reflect that. However, at the same time so many rewards are gated behind dailies like a single player mobile game, which discourages playing with an organized party for more than a few minutes. In the end, it's the worst of both worlds. It also feels worst as a mobile/gacha single player game since the gearing system isn't really deep and there is no build/team customization or meaningful long term goals or story to take in. The end result is that you feel punished for longer gaming sessions, and due to the prevalence of shorter quests, playing with friends doesn't feel any more engaging than playing with a bunch of randoms, everyone is just doing damage independently with little to no coordination.

All that being said, you can still have fun with playing with friends and enjoying the combat system if you treat it as a side game. Maybe you login, run a UQ, a Leciel run or 2, a seasonal run or 2 then hop off.
If you're looking for a game where you and your buddies can play for hours and hours on end, enjoying meaningful progression or rewards you won't find it here sadly.

the point is to have fun! seriously though theres hardly any content atm. you run whatever with alliance or friends, build a house or whatever in cspace, and phasion...thats it. then theres the grind for dumb drop rate items and gear. hopefully next year is better? it kinda feels like how base went way back before NA release when it was just a trickle of content

Why do you all act like this is different from every other online RPG?

I have a feeling you're only playing games you can make big chested waifus in, because otherwise there's no way you would say such a thing. Even Star Wars Galaxies had more engaging content than NGS.

Go to combat area. Chase the "E". Sometimes the "E" changes to a "T". If there's 4 bars, you enter multiball after finishing a "T".

That has been the entire gameplay loop since launch, maybe put about a dozen sarcasm quotes around "gameplay"

The only things that come or came close to being anything worth the neuron activation were the Geometric Labyrinths (which have been abandoned by the devs like an unwanted stepchild, so it drops nothing worthwhile, so noone does them), or the current Leciel Exploration (for max level + full ground gear only), which you grind eternally for the augment drops, because the alternative is Duel Quests and whoever came up with duel quests needs to be collectively slapped for insulting us/wasting our time.

Do UQs when they come up, and when I say "UQs" I mean either the latest Falz or the Leciel one, because everything else hasn't been updated and isn't worth it. Use your best "rare drop +" consumable, then enjoy the Skinner Box that the devs forgot to put food pellets in.

The "open world" aspect is empty and lifeless, since the devs still don't grasp how game development works, apparently. Malevolents and the Meynins are max level only, and that means for some reason you've felt the need to actually waste your time sitting in a low level area waiting for them to spawn, as opposed to doing anything else with your life.

That's it! Oh, and it's only worth hanging around the most recently supported area, which in this case is back to Alieo Region, because they don't update the other combat areas to reflect current max level, even tho they FINALLY made the daily chores rotate around the regions. Because game dev is hard, guys.

So you'd compare this to, say, Final Fantasy 14? Yeah, no, I hear that, I roll my eyes, then immediately mute, because if I ever feel the need to listen to an opinion that bad, then I also need to check myself into the hospital, because I've suffered some kind of catastrophic brain damage.
