But I do agree with the constraints, NGS used to be more free, now due to the influence of people that think PSO2 is the best version, we have bad camera all over, fake difficulty, red walls with dark crimson Masquerade you barely can notice the movements, stuff like that needs to go away and bring back the world idea before moving from Dark Falz Aegis.
It was an 8 year old game and was released on the Xbox One and then the Microsoft Store before it came to Steam. 20k in those circumstances is really good. You won't find many games under similar circumstances get 20k players.
I'm not sure what your post even has to do with this topic to be honest.
My brethren in Susanoo,
The early betas and trailers for Phantasy Star Online 2(2011), Final Fantasy 14(2010), Elderscrolls Online(2013), and Black Desert(2013) are from the same era of early 2010+ MMOs.
None of those games were in the same situation as PSO2. They all came to Steam much earlier in their lives for a start. You were also essentially playing a different version of the game to the one available in Japan for 8 years. They also never got the opportunity to bring their old accounts over from JP. So you either stay on the JP's server, or you start all over again on an inferior version of the game.
Another important detail. Before the game even released on Steam, NGS was announced. So anybody jumping in at that point knew they were jumping in to a game that would reach end of life in less than a year.
