Thanks! You guys finally helped me to figure out what was causing the problem. Mystery solved. :) I never really looked into my CPU that much. I knew it was a bit of an older model, but still quite strong.
It turns out that it was Intel's Hyper-Threading which was causing the Witcher 2 not to start. When I disabled it in my BIOS the game started just fine. Now I am just wondering if it is worthwhile to turn it back on after I finished the game and move onto the Witcher 3..
Hopefully someone else who has the same problem as me will also be helped by this thread. Thanks again everyone who gave a useful reply, even if it turned out to be a dead end. :)
how about fixing the game then. i cant launch the game lol.
