However Steam has the highest player count. So if Steam has 3500 players all other platforms will be below that.
Wish I could tell you but, the source code got leaked like 6 months ago soooo ya NGS and base PSO2 will be around no matter what.
That depends on what you see as a "worthy playerbase" amount.
The playerbase wont get bigger anymore even tho people wish that. The playerbase is currently stable and has its hardcore fanbase. However with games Like Blue Protocol and Dragons Sword (Dragons Nest Remake) releasing this year its also very likely that the playerbase could decrease further.
So as you can see there are alot of "what ifs" regarding the playerbase.
Another thing you need to know is that the player count is not NGS only. Those 3500 players (on Steam) count both base and NGS together. So the number is very misleading because its shared across two games.
The numbers you see on Steam are for both PSO2 and NGS. So on average, it's 2500 players shared over 2 games.
Tweaker isn't it's own platform, it's just a launcher to bypass the official launcher. When you set it up, you must choose to connect your game to either Steam, Epic or the Microsoft Store, and whichever one you pick, it will launch that version of the game and you will count towards the numbers playing on that platfom.
Idk if you heard but Steam can lift those bans when Developers abuse it. So just writte Steam and problem solved. I mean it even is stated in the ToS.
I didnt even get a ban from Amazon. And i am plenty inactive.
According to recent and public Sega reports, New Genesis is doing financially well as one of their top-performing games and they did cite that Global was a large reason for that. As long as people are spending money you won't have to worry about the game going away - at least not yet (we will have to see what their "Super Game" unfolds and becomes).
The playerbase is split across numerous ships (four in Global, ten in Japan) and the game isn't very popular to mainstream audiences but has a dedicated niche. If you are willing to socialize with others and make the most of what you can depending on where you are the game does have something to offer at least for a period of time.
But to your first post, Hiro Arai did mention when New Genesis launched that the overwhelming majority of players on Phantasy Star Online 2 (and New Genesis when it was new) reside on the Steam side of things. Things may have changed now as there hasn't been any new insights on that (and information is very scarce in general regarding New Genesis as so much of it is behind closed-doors or other presentations elsewhere that Global is left out of). I would imagine, at least that I have seen, the only other major population to have put a dent into this (and who really is carrying the game alongside the Steam players) is the PlayStation population as well due to the fact that the PlayStation version already has been done for years and years (due to the Japanese version back in about 2016-2017 for Episode 4's launch). Global finally getting the PlayStation version has been a significantly bigger boost of players and activity compared to the Xbox One version's original launch despite the outer narrative with Sony's attitude towards Japanese games (especially for what Phantasy Star Online 2 and New Genesis capitalize on).
What other "top performing" games does Sega have tho ? I dont know of any current (or truth be told any game besides PSO2) thats a huge success. Not hard for NGS being the top dog when its the only dog.

But from the report for the Q2 Fiscal Year that ends in March 2023:
Unfortunately, not much more was said in regards to New Genesis beyond the goal being to strengthen domestic and overseas operations of their mainstay free-to-play titles.
If u start from beginning ship1&2 is a good choice the community over their is active
But if u want stand alone dont want other to disturb u ship3&4 is your choice it is death ship anyway and lobby was empty and u alone will at that lobby
if u want buzy schedule run UQ run trigger run daily with everybody else ship 1&2 is your choice
This.
There are other reasons too. High numbers = a game that is certain to last years and the company (usually) will back it up with content. New players are far more likely to jump into a game with a sizeable amount of players too. They won't waste their time starting a new game if the game has little going for it. Low numbers = a game that where it's longevity will always be questioned and content will likely be pushed out slow and small in size (I feel like this is where we are with NGS)
Also, when I am playing an online game, I want to be playing with a lot of people, it's supposed to be an online game after all. If I wanted a single player experience, I would just play a single player game. I love seeing tons of players wherever I go, but at times with NGS, it's barren. This is another reason why I prefer the hub world and dungeons of previous PSO games. The smaller size meant I was always running into players.
