Classic PSO2 only
Is there a way to just install PSO 2 classic without installing PSO NGS? I don't understand why Sega turned this game into a 2 in 1. It seems stupid to have done that.

You can download NGS only on console i believe. And base PSO2 as DLC.

The other way around tho ? Nope.
Problem is base game is linked with the NGS startup (log in screen) which means base wont run without NGS ever no chance.

This is so weird, it's not practical. I don't understand why Sega did this.
Don't know if they still use Server Blades or not, or if they sell off/donate the older Server Blades. I'm unsure of how it works these days now lol. But, if they do, maybe there's someone out there who will get those Server Blades, and create Fan-Made Servers with older versions of the game. There was a Team who did that with World of Warcraft Servers a while back. They had Fan-Made Servers for pretty much each Version. One at the point of the Base Game somewhere, before the Expansions came out. One at also at the point of Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Mists of Pandaria, up to Cataclysm, I think was the highest. A WoW Server at some Update Point for each of the Expansions at that time. Eventually Blizzard came in and pulled their plugs, and eventually turned around and made their own official Classic Servers.

I don't know. Maybe something like that could be a thing for PSO2 too at one point??

I'm going to hope they do that in the future, because installing 108.21 gigs of content that I'm not going to play is stupid. I didn't like PSO NGS so I don't understand why I would have to install this game if I just want to play PSO2 classic

Simple.
Imagine Sega splits their current playerbase across 2 PSO Online games. Sega needs numbers for Investors.

Not gonna happen as the are now full steam ahead on NGS, as of this posting, and that the JP playerbase already had Base for 8 years.
Base was still attached so 8 years worth of stuff by JP player base, and one years from GLobal userbase, gets carried over.
And base content should tide over GL players who are not content with what NGS has.

And also, base is much larger than NGS lol.

Base PSO2 client was 78.1GB tho. You'd DL only 30GB less.

It's irrelevant which of the two games takes up more space, because I still have to install 30 gigs more of content that I have no interest in playing. And 30 gigs is a considerable amount of space.

Are you also using all oldtype faces, hairstyles, costumes and emotes? Is everyone else around you also not using them? Are you playing solo?

I don't understand what you're saying, please be more clear.

Are you, and everyone around you, not using ANYTHING which BELONGS TO THE NGS CLIENT?

I don't think so, I don't know how something from NGS can be inside PSO2 classic, I don't know if I have an answer for that, how would I know?

Uh, you check them (players lookbook items) out on the visiphone?

Can't we just simplify it to him that Sega intended it to work this way instead of them separately launching a PSO3?

That SEGA wanted it this way is a bit obvious, but what some gamers want (including me) is another. If you like the PSO2 integrated NGS, for some silly reason, great! I'm glad you're satisfied, but don't make this an issue for anyone who wants something different. It's simple.

Was a trick question, you're using NGS files, thats why you don't have a chance for a standalone PSO2 client.

You make it seem like it can't be done just because both games share files, but it can, there is no reason why it can't be done. This isn't the first game ever made that shares files between 2 games. Both games are working off the same engine and the same servers, the hard work has already been done.

This isn't a case of not being able to do it, it's a case of Sega choosing not to do it.

Got any proof of your claim?

Proof of what exactly? that the hard work has already been done? It's already there in the game. They won't do it now, but they could have made it so you pick which game you launch. A button for NGS and one PSO2. You would still need to download the files if you want your cosmetics from either game, which will be pretty big, but it can be done. They didn't NEED to make it so you had to download the entirety of both games, they just chose that way because it was easier.
