On the Japanese version, however, the player community is far more generous and less greedy overall so the things you are likely looking for with N-Meseta especially in regards to fashion is about less-than-half of what Global's prices are. There are a number of variables to it (a much larger playerbase, a more gacha-friendly community, a less greedy playerbase, and a bigger sense of community even in the Personal Shops) but Global's Personal Shops are in the state they are because Sega has been very hands-off about how Global handles things and thus what you see is what players settled on.
first= get a premium 1500AC
second at NGS=play scratch ticket and sell them at your shop
third at Base PSO2=just joint any party do trigger quest the better one is CRADLE OF DARKNESS u get so many mesata and 13 star weapon and unit
what players always buy at shop:-
NGS=scratch ticket item ,unit+50 and weapon+50
Base PSO2= high unit for starter and 13* unit also high weapon for starter and 6 augment 13* weapon....at base PSO2 scratch item not that hot to sell so don,t buy AC scratch here and at here u can direct sell item to other players just click at them and do transaction
so there u have it how to survive in this cruel PSO2 world.
The Shop passes are one if not the reason why some people consider NGS P2W. But hey you get 1 Shop pass per month as long as you get the Pass level done and then you have 3 days and get your stuff sold.
So no its not "Paywalled" you still get passes for free. Then again. Considering what some people here believe "paywall" means you might aswell call it that.
Another source of income is alliance missions. At the end of every alliance "season", you get beta reactors depending on how many alliance quests your alliance completed. Once again, the seasons for that change kind of slowly too.
To be really honest, shop access isn't going to make you rich either, the stuff dropped for sale are all price depressed that you're more likely to get just 1k per item for weapons and armour, so if you think that shop access is going to grant you millions of meseta, think again, the only things that are going to make you "big meseta" are the fashion items that are on sale from AC scratches and that involves you pumping in real money, which if you were doing so, would mean you would have already bought shop access.
Ok, some temporary help, go to the store and you'll find that there is a "starter" premium package on sale for SG. It's something they tossed in to lure you into the convenience of premium before yanking the rug from under you but that doesn't mean you can't make use of it in the meantime. Buy that and you got I think about a month of shop access.
Other than making few hundred K per hour in Retem Alnothe, you can use a guide and look for meseta related materials to sell like alpha-reactors, etc.
Make your monthly sub of 0 real US dollars worth your while. I know I know, hype up that "80" n-meseta per kill whine loud and wide. Life of the economically challenged after all. Virtual/fake currency is more real than real money, heh.

E.g Zimbabwe is full of trillionaries. But they need about 3.7 trillions to buy a loaf of bread... Printing money is easy but value of it is still dependent on actual work and effort.
edit: nvm just saw it in the event shop
Sega high likely didnt get the memo that people dont like shop access being paywalled. I mean even TERA back then gave F2P players permanent shop slots. I mean i can understand locking the "full use" thats no big deal but locking it completely ? Always a bad idea. Sega should give people 3 slots for free.
..... oh wait....
I dont know of any paywalled upgrades in Tera. In fact i did everything with ingame money. I mean okey i didnt play the last 5 years of its lifecircle but i cant imagine they added a paywalled upgrade system.
You can kindly prove me wrong tho because as i said i wasnt there at that time high likely.
