As of now yes. Later on NGS is bumping the requirements to DX11, so that might bump off the XP (!!) support this game still somehow technically has left, though it's uncertain for 7 (DX11's a very 7 thing and PSO2 doesn't use the latest biffed versions of UE4 like so many 2020 games, so i can't see why it wouldn't)..

Isn't New Genesis a totally new client/different version from PSO2? The only thing that New Genesis is carrying over is your character/account data?

I don't see why New Genesis would bump the rendering requirements on the original PSO2 if it's not touching anything else besides server-sided data?

pso2 and new gen are same game. pso2 is being updated alongside NGS... this is all in FAQ. Requirements to play PSO2 are being bumped way up in 2021.

Despite it look like and you can categorize it as a complete new game, NGS is actually still an expansion not independent
So yeah pso2 gotta have an engine upgrade to match with the expansion. Fashion also one of the reasons why the graphics upgrade since the characters model will be shared, that way you can use pso2 cosmetic in NGS and vice versa

From my understanding of what they've said about New Genesis, it's going to work like the challenge ships do. You just step in to the elevator and choose the 'new genesis' ship, and viola, that's where all the New Genesis stuff goes on. The base game is still gonna be there, and all be playable, so you can freely jump between them at will.

Also, while it was answered at the beginning of the thread, yes PSO2 Global does run on Windows 7 perfectly fine, and provided Sega don't do something weird like use the utterly pointless DirectX 12 for New Genesis, so will that.
