Are Ranger the worse class on PSO NGS?
I,ve been playing and testing alot of classes and while Wired Lance and Gauntlet seems to be one of the best (God) weapons ive found, killing tons of enemies fast without the need to lock them one by one, giving excellent freedom of movement, when i tried to play with Rifle and Cannon, i felt that i was very weak let me explain why:

1 - Basic atacks of cannon are charged, so when u fight alot of enemies at same time it dont help and plus make difficult to charge PP to reuse skills

2 - Cannon atacks are stronger, but also slow, and to hit these atacks, you need to Lock On one by one of your enemies, letting ur guard down taking hit from flying monsters or enemies behind you, becouse it also do not allow good movement while shooting. Also cannon skills are Meh except from Multi Launch, the only skill that i find usefull.

3 Rifle have same problem as Cannon, the need to lock on One by One your enemies, and when u got surrounded you need to lock one by one letting ur guard down receiving atacks of flying enemies also thos on your back. Yes You can try to run all out and shoot, but you will miss alot of targets if the area have alot of mobs. Rifle got a nice skill called Blaze Shot but the damage arent too much, consumes alot of PP, and is your only help to flee and hit many enemies around.

Well , let me know your point of view about Hunter on NGS, to me, this class is not well adapted to NGS rules! Maybe it works with Auto Atack a little better but, play with auto atack is meh;...

Rifle is my favorite, personally. Its one of the most mobile weapons in the game thus far in terms of sheer ability to avoid damage.

Launcher i agree is very eh. i absolutely L O V E the beam, but i feel id be better served going techer/rifle to abuse shifta stuff... Since rifle doesnt have many main class things besides blight rounds, which isnt really useful compared to shifta.

You're a new player in the PSO series?

Melee plays totally different and much more "headache" style than melee.
LB is your great friend here (lock on key but also change camera where your character is facing).

You just need to get used.
Yes, normal attacks are important for hunter.
And yes, for clearing trash mobs I usually dont lock on them. Maybe just insta lock and de-lock to have a better view but not be forced to attack that single mob.

You might also try comfortable to zoom out your camera a little bit when fighting.

Honestly, with Hunter i'm having a blast, high damage and amazing survivability.
But above all.... ADRENALINE!!!

You seem to be talking about the Ranger class in your post, cause Hunter doesn't use rifles or cannons or fists.

Rifle Ranger may not be the biggest DPS machine of all classes, but it is a very safe and layed back class to play as. You can mind your own business in the backline while you are fighting big tough guys. Use blight rounds to soften up your enemies and just fire away.

The rifle also has a really nice AOE attack, the homing missile one. Hold it for a while to lock it on multiple enemies. I don't know what the max count of lock on targets is, but its a lot! you can target like an entire army of enemies with it. It does a fair amount of dmg too!

Can't say much about cannon tho, haven't played around with it yet.

Yes sorry i changed the title. Hunter is fine with that OP wired Lance. XD
I Started NGS with Ranger, but after play with Gauntlet and Wired Lance it make me be a GOD, the power and mobility it give is another level. There is no way to compare with Ranger....

Ranged and melee are two very different beasts. Ranged needs target lock more than melee, since it'll take care of all the aiming so you can focus on movement. Melee plays more like a hack and slash action game, so in crowds of weak enemies you can just freecam and go ape, but against large enemies and bosses you do absolutely want to lock on to their weak spot for maximum damage.

Yes but the problem on NGS, is that you are almost always by yourself most of the time against mobs, Party doesnt works well on NGS at least to me. If u want to go Ranger would be good to have a melee for those hard times when tons of mobs surround you and you do not have mates to distract while you aim weak spots!

Spam Blight Rounds on the same spot for some burst damage. Does around 300-400 on my end. About 9 sec cooldown and you get 3 rounds. Multi-weapon Rifle/Launcher(vice versa) to get the best of both weapons.

Launcher weapon action Sticky Grenade is just absolutely worthless, it should be replaced with Zero Distance.

You need to keep hitting the Sticky spot with the Launcher till it explodes. When it does you gain 100pp. Kinda useful to get a longer Laser Beam.
FerrousAradicen Jun 14, 2021 @ 1:52am
It really isn't, Zero Distance would be a lot more useful.

I played it few days and it was fine imo. Launcher is kinda garbage, but rifle is decent. Maintaining proper range is critical, it adds almost 50% more damage. Then just pinpoint the target weakpoint, use blight round and spam blaze shot PA. That's pretty much it. Homing dart seems also good against many targets, can't compare it to other aoe though.

Also Force subclass really helps ranger a lot. That 600% pp regen skill that has 2 use is so stupidly good, there's nothing even remotely close in other classes to take.

wth are you talking about lol? Im been soloing tier 2 fevers on lab like is nothing with ranger, Homing missile is extremely OP on this game, just two or three uses and you can wipe groups of anything that is not an elite mob very quickly, blight rounds are good for dps single targets.

I think you need to learn how to play with ranger buddy.

Is launcher really worthless? It's the only thing I've been using... Hitting 300-400 with a charged shot on spots hit with a blight round, and my main PA does around 600+, enough to oneshot regular enemies on the field at level 10. I never use the laser PA though, that skill is straight trash because it locks you down while doing mediocre damage.

The only issue I've had with it is the animations leave you wide open to attacks. Very hard to 1v1 strong enemies without taking hits, but that's a trade-off I would expect.

Yeah agree homing missile is the best PA to deal with crowds quick just spam it 2-4 times and all common mobs will die, vs bosses with not many weak spots cannon is better with shift+rmb attack after you blight it forget the name of that PA. If anything ranger become top tier, while in og pso2 was average if not just under average.

Fear Eraser actually does massive damage, you use it when something is downed and lay into them with Sticky + Blight Rounds + Fear Eraser; let go of whatever button you're holding to fire off the big last hit once its charged cause it won't fire if you run out of PP.
