Can I kiss goodbye to playing it on Steam Deck?

Welp... At least it's not Denuvo anti cheat... *cue some background screaming*

As someone who bought into the Wellbia fear-mongering early on, I've switch to Wellbia for about a month now and here are the differences I've noticed:
- More stable, and higher FPS than GameGuard
- Occasional lag spikes that freeze the game for 2 - 5 seconds, compared to almost non-stop <1 second lag spikes with GameGuard
- There are a lot less lag spikes while moving around (smoother object loading)

Change to test Wellbia for the first time, had to tweak my VPN settings a little bit to get it to work properly.

Game does seem to run slightly smoother however it takes longer time to launch the game.

People should of been switched to wellbia imo. Since it was implemented, I only had 1 dc and it was during its first week of implementation. With gameguard i was getting constant dc's. Gameguard is also a very old anticheat software that is also plagued with hackers. This game had a hacking problem that was kinda bad at one point and it was do to people using gameguard and yes i know thats all we had at one point. Now I'm not defending wellbia either but If i had to choose between the two, I would just stick with wellbia.

Welbia auto-runs as soon as you start your PC, even if you don't launch NGS, is well-known for false-positives, and installs itself outside of the game so it can continue spying on you even after the game is uninstalled. Unless Sega HEAVILY modified it, and someone can show actual proof to disprove those 3 points, anyone with even a mild concern for their PC's functionality, security and privacy should get ready to ditch NGS.

For those who don't know, Wellbia has been around NGS for awhile now. This is the November 2023 official Sega notice on the NGS web site.

https://pso2.com/players/news/i_Wellbia_20231026/

They just allowed people to keep to GG through the compatibility mode in the launcher options. So anyone who hasn't even clicked on anything other than "START GAME" in the launcher would be on Wellbia since it was implemented.

What Sega is removing now is the option to use GG, moving everyone to Wellbia. So if you have been playing without the compatibility check for this long and you have not noticed any changes since then (slower performance since November, odd PC behaviors, some dictatorial military showing up at your home asking about those embarrassing pics that you store in your PC), then you should be fine. Yes, it's a bit odd that the software stays always on (if what people say is true), but I least I haven't had any issues, and I'm truly certainly definitely not writing this message at gun point...

This will not affect much (who knows really) those western players that play only on western servers or Japanese players that will play on theirs but everyone else will be affected in some way including full regions like SEA where the server they had got shut down.
I get nothing but a frozen splash window with Wellbia no matter what I allow on Win10. I don't care about the stock spyfud every anticheat gets, i'd think not starting the game at all's a major issue.

EDIT: had to allow the pso2.exe in the sub subfolder through the firewall.

I just love how, over time, we've just come to accept rootkits as a part of life and don't question it anymore.

I am pretty sure you have Facebook or Instagram like 90% of the poppulation. What about girls that put their face on the internet? These people even type nasty stuff in private messages but they have no idea that content moderators can access everything whenever they want to.

Everything takes you information these days, you can't even watch a youtube video without agreeing to cookies.

You can always buy a cheap laptop and use it only for work and payments without installing any applications or video games in it.

Your comparison it's pointless as none of those are rootkits and information harvesting is just 1 of many problems.

that's because we've come to accept live service/always online slop as a part of life, and these games are perpetually paranoid about cheaters and exploiters.
but given that people somehow found a way to enable PvP in this game, maybe it's justified (assuming it actually does something about these behaviors and is not a rootkit).
