furry race?
So one of the accessories anonymask that they recently released gave me an idea since it reminded me of a protogen (furry term just look it up it's kind of similar) I feel like it would draw in more players if you appeal to furries we do have a very large population after all and many furries have very deep pockets paying for commissioned art, cons and fur suits, and you'll also make more money sega. I think this is very easy just add fur to the existing human bodies or scales for all the scalies. There's already robotic faces what's the harm in making animal heads and re texturing existing bodies too, and it's not that sega hasn't done it before I heard sega had a beast face in base and in some of the past games you could play as an anthropomorphic character.

Criminal Justice: Deviant Behavior. If there's one thing to take away from that class, it's that if it exists, there's an audience for it.

There are 3 non-human, sapient races playable, unless you mean non-humanoid. In or outside the context of a game, I don't see how it makes the writers lazy by not having any either. Regardless, they keep adding crap to the gacha pool that f**ks the aesthetics, they wouldn't look out of place. That doesn't mean I won't ever push back on the idea. I don't know what a protogen is, but people who ask for furry trash don't want Motavians or Beasts. They just use those as justification, ignoring also that New Genesis is a completely different continuity. They want wolves, foxes, and dragons they can dress up in bikinis or whatever cheesecake they can gamble for.

Not everybody is a degenerate like you so quit putting your ideas onto them, is it crime to want a fursuit for non sexual purposes? the only bikini i have in game is the aelio nagar for free from mission pass, is it a crime to like the furry aesthetic? I don't know what nsfw things you're imagining but it shows you're the deviant here, and to make a point... Does that mean men who like to play as women and dress up their woman character means they want to be a woman? or do they just like women?
If you like playing a cast does that mean you want to be a robot? or do you just like robots?
The whole sexual deviant thing is dumb

I've never really thought about it before, but I guess PSO2 does let me live my childhood dream of being a magical girl.

By the way didn't they remove the whole Male/Female thing due to woke culture?
How they are going to implement new races when we cannot even have proper genders anymore?
Just my 2cents.

Edit : i've just checked that my character info still says "Deuman" despite races got removed in NGS. I remember in base not being able to use Newman ears with Deuman. In NGS we can use anything we want without being locked on certain options. Races became pointless.

They removed the restrictions but at least in the base game your character's race is considered to be whatever race they were when created.
It also breaks the Equippable Only filter in Salome's shop.
I do wish they'd add an option to bring back pre-NGS restrictions.

I'm all for having different alien races, and not "big breasted human but with big ears" as another species, but unfortunately the whole furry thing is not really in accordance with their current aesthetic. It's not like Cyberpunk 2077 where it literally makes no sense for them to not be there, considering they're a big part of the cyberpunk lore.

Best you could do is an anthro animal themed CAST.

Which kinda sucks, cause in sci-fi & fantasy, plenty of alien/fantasy races are basically "furry" and they don't shy away from this. Garrus Vakarian from Mass Effect is basicallly an anthro dinosaur, Dragonborns in Baldur's Gate/DnD/etc are anthro dragons/lizards, the Zoras in BOTW are anthro fish and they somehow put one in a canon romance with Link.

But NGS is doing absolutely nothing with that. When a race is playable, it's either human, human with big ears, human with a horn, robots (or humans undergoing a procedure to become robots). When it's non-playable it's barely tertiary at best, or OH GOD IT'S A MONSTER, RUN AWAY.

I remember Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, and I know for sure people would've been furious if all you could play were human races & classes.

Not something Sega's audience would be interested into apparently, or that Sega thinks they'd like. The days of having Motavians and Dezorians from the classic series are over, I'm afraid. It's coming to the point where Hoyoverse are outdoing them on visual variety.
Tbh that kinda makes me sad considering the fact that they was apart of the original series and something the creator of ps as a whole made.

For all those complaining, OP is likely asking for a race from the Portable/Universe games, which are a separate continuity: https://phantasystar.fandom.com/wiki/Beast

Though SEGA would need to explain how the race is suddenly in both PSO2 and NGS, and balance the race out for PSO2 where race and gender affect stats.
Could just introduce a planet. They dont have to go into much detail like similar to how they did pso2 dracoians and the Oceaniods.

I guess, though tbh as someone who doesn't like it when something "doesn't belong" with the rest, I just can't with the panda outfits outside whipping it out for the joke in front of a friend who'll say "... get this thing away from me." and then I'll get back into my T2 or T1 CAST. They rub me the wrong way.

... Although honestly, it's weird to say even that doesn't belong when thinking of so many other things that I see in gameplay. My previous post was mainly on lore stuff, since I focused on the title of the thread, and I'm real hung up on sci-fi & high fantasy that doesn't even try for a main non-human sapient race, it feels really lame and lazy to me.

Now that I'm thinking of what every other player is wearing in game though... yeah. Furry/protogen stuff barely scratches the surface on how weird the fashion itself can get. Somehow.

I wouldn't bank on it though. Sega already has their audience set in stone.

You dont know phantasy star lore do you. Those other three races are human base. Newmans are genetic alter humans to be better at magic even in the context of pso2, Cast arent robots. They are human as well and Dewmans was a experiment done by someone using draconian dna and human dna. NGS takes places in pso2 future so we are still are Human base.

I haven't played the whole franchise, but the Beasts in portable, portable 2/infinity is pretty far from what you would consider a furry.

To be fair, CASTs are robots in most of the Phantasy Star continuities. It's just PSO2 and NGS where they are cyborgs of Humans and Newmans whose physical bodies were unable to put up with their Photon potential.

Irrelevant, but if you want to go there, Newmans and Deumans are no longer Human because their DNA has been altered enough to where there are (or were) appreciable anatomical and physiological differences between them. Sega is just too cowardly to keep it that way.

That was a disappointing aspect of New Genesis.

The Dueman lore expands beyond that.

The Dueman race is originally from Phantasy Star Universe. Humans that survived after becoming infected by the SEED virus would turn into Duemans. This happened to a character named Hyuga after he was captured and placed into a pod. They attempted to turn him into a SEED life form, but he fought against it and later became a Deuman.

Duemans in PSO2 are also created in a similar way. Mixing Draconian DNA and Human DNA is just one way. It's very similar to how Deumans came to be in PSU. SEED infects humans, you either become a SEED life form, or you become a Deuman. In PSO2, Darkers (Falspawn in English) infect humans, they either become Darkers themselves or Deumans.

I know that about in universe. I was talking about the context of pso2.
