Minmaxing is generally a bad idea. Anybody who's played since classic already knows this. But such an environment also makes it easy to swindle and profit off impulsive goobers who have to acquire the latest 5% upgrade right now.

The capsule market was an absolute heaven last week as a result, I'd say it was one of the few times invested time is properly valued in this game.

Ruthless gear progression systems can exist as long as it keeps money flowing. If gearing was trivial, the only worthwhile thing left on the market would be cosmetics, and I guarantee there will be even more ♥♥♥♥♥ tears shed over this.

They are for making bank off room temperature IQ players who ignored the fact that A/B/S were going to happen very soon and blew their entire load on untradable/overpriced meme armor so they could clear nothing that requires it whatsoever.

This is the kind of title I'd see while scrolling and say, "sure is!" before even seeing the video. It doesn't surprise me one bit and only reinforces the fact that Sega should be throwing rares at us. Besides a combat overhaul, it would help fix the game so at least it doesn't feel like they're demanding more weeks of hardcore grinding from us. Like, almost every improvement I could think of right now would fly in the face of microtransactions, which New Genesis is better designed to serve us. They know we don't enjoy the grind, that's why they exist. Wait... conspiracy time. Cattleya, Foursis, and Vialto dropped at an almost comfortable rate, it was still a bit low for my liking, and Evolcoat dropped at a seemingly slightly lower rate, then rare drop rates fell off a cliff when we hit Retem. Were they luring us into a false sense of comfort with those arguably reasonable drop rates? Was that the free sample to get us hooked? I can confirm that I felt more fulfilled when I was getting rapid fire rare drops of weapons and armor.

Gear progression is really bad in this game, but I disagree about your gear being outdated because of new Einea armours.

As a multiclass player, Arga, Belta and Sheza's are not good for me. I would need to make 2 sets to make the most of them, the previous 3 Einea armours cover all types. The tiny bit of extra damage reduction, health and PP really isn't worth considering switching if you already have Einea gear.

It was the same with Octo, first they release octo with leciel then next week they release a new LTQ with arga or something like that
Im going to upgrade my Octo and Versch only when Sega releases a 10 star unit and a 11 star weapon!

It's been like this since base PSO2. Do content for a few months, new gear drops, chase after the gear for a few months, better gear drops. Finally grab the current tier gear, higher value augments drop.
It's a never ending cycle of power creep.

Yep, exactly.
The problem is that we went from "for a few months", to "1 week".

When will the Purple units drop>? Who knows.
When will the 10* units drop>? Who knows.

Then people wonder / complain when they see players with garbage gear in UQ/LTQ/Leciel quests.
Unfortunately i will join their gang also.

Sega is completely obsessed with "catching up" new players to the point there's no reason to even log into the game to do anything.
They created an RPG grinder with zero reason to ever grind or interact with RPG elements because you'll get free hand out stuff within weeks.

this is not just sega but all mmo. is this your first mmo? they do it on purpose so you spend more money on things like drop boosts and paid gear upgrades. welcome to the mmo world

What other MMO gives you the top gear?

Sure MMOs do give out catch up gear but only up till the minimum required to start the dungeons and then go from there.

Sega gives away the top end gear which makes wanting to farm them pointless, not like farming for them would've been worthwhile.

This is a good point. The new armor is only a strict upgrade for people who don't play all 3 attack types, and the ""upgrade"" is 1 PP per piece if we're talking about stats related to damage/power. The base potency is the same.
And I don't believe for a second the goons on this forum play any sort of content where 3 PP on top of 250 PP is a make or break difference.

As for the new gear's ease of acquisition, it's obviously because of the new Add Preset item. Getting a blank 9*/10* is no longer "top gear" by any means. You are expected to have at least a Lv.1 on it, ideally Lv.3, and this requires a crapload of copies to drop so they can be used as fodder.

I don't think that game ever recovered from getting mercilessly shat on by XIV. Which by the way IS a game that gives out gear and catch up gear for practically free.
