No worries, I know you're just upset at the game and not me. I am, too, upset for a number of things. The lack of effort and out of touchness of the devs.
I can't speak for anyone else. But I was getting pretty demoralized trying to keep up with the BR needed for Leciel. This gear they handed out, really helped get me back into the game. I was more motivated to play and try harder content. I'm not that good a player. It's getting harder for me to learn new game systems. But I try my best. Look up strategies, and builds, etc. My point being the gear pushed me to log in more and do more. I don't feel like I missed out on anything. I worked my gear up to the last BR benchmark and it was largely frustrating.
Even now, after this event is over. The BR will rise again and these weapons may not cut it anymore. So we'll all still have to maintain a certain gear standard. This is one step in a neverending ladder.
Consider it a taste of end game gear, but soon it will be outspecced. The hope is that it will motivate players to get stronger gear and keep up. Whether or not that pays off remains to be seen.
