Sega said several times they don't even know how to fix it (likely because they actually can't.)
It's something we just have to put up with until they decide to shut the servers down or we uninstall and move onto better games.
Just keep trying and pray you eventually get on PSO2.
this would mean id have to downgrade and then reupgrade right?
This doesn't fix the problem. It never has fixed it. This black screen issue has remained a constant since day 1 of NGS releasing and allowing players to migrate between games.
Also, OP, updating your graphics driver doesn't help either. You can have everything perfect and the black screen will persist for random intervals or often just hang forever. While occasionally crashing. That's just how it works.
Like I said before: SEGA has admitted several times that they've been aware of this issue and haven't been able to fix it. (Likely because they can't.)
That isn't a hate comment. That isn't a "trust me bro" comment. That is actually what was said on Twitter multiple times during the first year of NGS's release.
It's often speculated to be an issue with GameGuard from many users that have been digging into what could be causing this to happen, but SEGA has vehemently refused to comment on it. They've continued to just ignore the problem.
Don't go messing with all kinds of things on your system in an attempt to fix this issue either. You will more than likely mess up your system more than anything. Trust me. I've done every "solution" under the sun that was given and have done more harm than good to my system because computers are finicky and that black screen issue is just something you have to bash your head against until you make it through to Base or NGS, or forget Base ever existed and never touch it.
That's the option we are left with, thanks to SEGA.
I also managed to find proof for the more skeptical people:
Anybody can find this comment. All they need to do is type in the comment in the "search discussions" box and it will pop up.
They've been aware for years. They've just not been able to fix it. This comment was made in one of the countless black screen issue threads that were made.
This CM has attempted to help with multiple variations of this issue and none have been resolved.
Its not always happening but as others already said in occasional intervals. There is no fix for this its a system errot within the game itself and you as a player cant do anything about it.
